Posted - Oct 29 2012 : 06:05:52 AM Some of you know that DH and I have been looking for our place in the country for a couple of years. DH recently retired after 28 years in the Army and Air Force and we are debt free except for our house here in Janesville. Last week we went and looked at a place in Coon Valley, WI. This area is just beautiful. It is in the Driftless Region of Western Wisconsin. Close to Viroqua and LaCrosse. I am in love! The main house is 4 years old and the owner, who is a builder, built it. It is unusual. It is built into a hill so it has the lower level exposed. 1200 square feet upper living quarters that is basically an open living, dining and kitchen area. With one bedroom and bath. Perfect size and plan for us. The lower level is a 1200 square foot shop/garage. The house is heated with in-floor heating that is run by an exterior wood burning furnace. The property is almost completely wooded, which makes for free heat. Also on the property is a little renovated farmhouse perfect for my MIL and as a guest cottage. There is also the cutest old building that is completely restored as a studio! All three buildings have new roofs, windows and siding. There is just enough open land areas for chickens, dwarf goats and gardens. We are busy getting our house ready to put on the market. Send me some good vibes and prayers that we can make this happen!
