I've always wanted a farm but probably will not happen in this life time. BUT, we just signed a lease on our first home yesterday. It is a 1/2 acre in the back and 1/4 acre in the front. It's a two year lease for now, but he says with 10 percent down he will do rent to own. It will be a cheaper payment then our rent at that time. He also says he has a total of 26 homes in the small town (must own half the town cause this is a very small rural town! lol). And that as they are available since we are his tenants already we can move to any of them and renegotiate our lease, and then rent to own them as well. The only problem is I can tell he is a major perfectionist. But, the current home is pretty near perfect. I would like it to have one more bedroom, and to have a basement, but other then that it's perfect and with the size of the property once we buy we could always add on a room! First a sun room, and that would probably help a lot.

Any way....we have been married 12 years, 10 years in a apartment in Queens NYC, and next month would of made 2 years in my parents basement apartment (actually pretty swanky, brand new, and very nice apartment, and it's on 80 acre farm, lake view etc). But, to finally be out on our own again in our own home, we are sooooooooo excited. I am too nervous to eat, and am not getting much sleep. I will eat and sleep soundly once we are moved in! It's just a new step in our life and we are EXCITED! Can't wait!

After we are all moved in, I'll be calling the city to see what the chicken laws are....we for sure will want some chickens!

Congrats Heather!
You must be so excited! It sounds like you may have found a pretty good thing there.
Also if you do put on one more room ... you can build it on a foundation and have your walkout basement!
I wish you much luck in your new home!

Teri
