I was raised in a dairy farm, was raised by hard working farming people, grandma taught me canning, putting food up and all she could about running a farm. I always canned, grew gardens but lived in suburbs. My heart was always in the country but life took me and kept me in the suburbs. My husband and I both striped and saved and raised 5 kids. Our youngest leaves for college soon and we finally bought our house with land. We move in two weeks. We are leaving California suburbs to grow gardens, raise chickens and live off our land. We are excited to call Idaho our new home. What's cool is that throughmaryjanes Farmgirl connection havealready met and joined a active henhouse in the town we are moving to. They are all amazing women and have made me feel at home. 2 more weeks. Sooooo excited had to share.

Well we have been in for three weeks, even before we started unpacking we put our beget garden in. This year its a 36x36 plot. Next year it will be bigger. We have pulletts in the broidwr and am planning out the chicken cool. And where the cow will go. I found a raw dairy nearby that is licensed to sell organic raw milk, made ice cream last night. Our 5 yearold grandaughter came up to stay summer vacation with us and she is in heavyn here. Keeps telling us that she wants to stay.... Yikes! Needless to say the planning has been great but thw best part is waking up in the morning to the sounds of the nearby livestock, horses neighing and the roosters crowing.... It reminds me that I have fufilled our dream, and there is work to do. Oh to tip this off, today in Meridian Idaho, I went to the new Fred myers grand opening and Mary Jane butters was there promoting her products, I was wearing my logo pin from thw henhouse and she gave me a sighned copy of her stitching room book. She was so nice, and so REAL. Glad I'm a farmgirl in Idaho.

Mary~I am so happy to hear that your dream is coming true in just two weeks!! Idaho looks to be just one of the most beautiful states and there are many like minded people there doing just what you will be doing too. Please send us photos of your journey setting up the farm and one of your Hen House Meetings. Best of luck and I look forward to following along on your journey!
