Hello Ladies,
When we moved up here in July we had to lease a place, because our home in NM had not sold (still hasn't sold...gaaah!). We have been paying both lease and mortgage, which is crazy, but had to be done at the time as my Hubby had to relocate for his job.

We thought we might purchase this place but decided to give it six months and see how things go. In that time we have realized some things about the home we live in now, it is hard to heat, the electric is not wired properly, and one of the neighbors abuses their animals :-(

In seven months we have lived here, Hubby has gotten a well deserved promotion and raise. So we contacted a mortgage lender to see how much we qualify for using his VA benefits. We got very good news, so we started looking for properties, and we think we found one! We have an appointment on Saturday to be pre-qualified, and we will be going to look at the property.

Please wish us well, we think we may have found our little dream farm. After moving five times in the last fifteen years, I would be so happy to finally be settled into our forever home!

Margaret

Update: Our offer was accepted! So if all goes well, we will close the third week of May. We are meeting with a an Equestrian Facility Designer and Planner on the 21st to get the layout of all our horse amenities just right for the property. I am hoping she can help with some of the landscaping things too. We want to do this the right way this time, and hopefully never again! We have a painter and contractor waiting in the wings to swoop in as soon as we close. I am starting to get excited, and think about packing...again

What a day! Went to see the place we thought would be perfect for us, and turns out the "outside" was awesome! The house, not so much. Needed a lot of outside work, painting, new soffets, carpeting in the basement and it was just too small.

Sooo, we went to look at another place a bit further south, and this place has a fabulous house, but no landscaping, garage or barns. So we weighed the options, put and offer in or keep looking...AND...we put an offer in on the second place!

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers and send positude, PLEASE!

Oh Marianne, you must be physic!! I was just going to post an update today!

We have found what we think is our "Forever Farm"! DD and I are going to go look at it on Saturday. Unfortunately, there is already and offer on it, but because of extenuating circumstances we are going to be allowed to see it and if we like it, put in a back up offer!

Please keep that Chickie Positude headed our way!

So, Is there an update, Margaret? Did you find the right place or is the search ongoing? WE have moved as often as you and I know the longing to say, "This is it. Last time." I sure hope this is it for you!!

It'll feel wonderful to be settled and put down some real roots.
You'll find something perfect. I'll say a little prayer.
When you get your farm, first off go out and buy a new broom and an apple tree.
Then make or buy a new apron. You can't go wrong!
