Moving out to the farm has felt like a fairy tale. It has been amazing. We love it out here and the commute into work is not that bad! But today my landlord called and said that there is a family emergency that is causing them to pick up and move to Missouri! And because he won't be on hand to take care of his cows, he is hiring a full time farm hand....who is going to be living in the house we rent... we have one month to find a new place and move... I am heart broken!

I just saw this post, dont know how I missed it but...
My jaw dropped when I read it, so I can only imagine how you, Doug and poor little Nora are feeling.
Being the farmgirl that you are, I know you will make do and move on. Remember as difficult as it may be at the time, that everything happens for a reason and that God must have another plan for you. The good news in all of this as you said is that he is going to let you keep Tala there for NO CHARGE (see already something positive).
I will pray for you that just the right place comes along for you. Your landlord has sounded all along like a very nice man, so I am sure that if he could have avoided this he would have.
Hugs Alee!

I am so sorry this has happened to you, Alee. I know how extatic you were to be moving to the country. Maybe you will stumble on another small farm that will work out better than that one. It is no fun moving, but then to ave to turn around and do it again so soon. Will be praying for you,
Janet

Alee, I am heartbroken for you all. This is so sad. . I wish you all the best and hope to hear good things from you on how things work out. Remember, it is always darkest before the dawn and behind every storm is a BEAUTIFUL Rainbow! It sounds like your landlord is really sorry to have done that to you - a month free rent, etc... I am sure it was a totally unforeseen issue. I hope it all works out wonderfully.

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!

Thanks ladies! Our landlord offered right away to give us our deposit back plus not cash our February rent check so that is good. And everything is still pretty organized from our other move it's just emotional :/

Hey Alee. I saw this on FB and mentioned it there; it's a very bad spot to be, but at least you don't have to worry about your horse. This thing has happened to me this past month, after a LONG string of looking for farm jobs, they just keep falling end up....and this time we were literally packing to go when the rug got pulled from under us!

You will find something, I know you are very resourceful. I'm beginning to think the best way to deal with property is maybe just save up and get one's own; the variables with rentals seem so crazy!

Wow. I know he had an emergency, but seriously? I agree with Julie, see if you can get your deposit back. I know you'll find a great place.

Thanks- we are looking at two places back in town (ugh). One is a turn of the century craftsman style home that is adorable and has a clawfoot tub (yay!) and the other is a condo style home that we are going to look at on Sunday.

Thanks Ladies- the first thing I did was offer to take care of the cows. But calving is coming up and I know nothing about midwifing cows. I have only done it for horses. He is a good guy and is giving a us a month of free rent and our deposit which will help. I have decided to hire movers because honestly right now I can't even stomach another move. We'll box it up and get it organized. The movers will show up, load the truck and then Doug can drive the truck to the new place and the movers can unload for us. Everything we look at is either expensive or is going to be terrible. *sigh* I know we will find something...I just hope it's soon!

Alee dear, this seems so unfair. I know just how you feel because something just like that happened to me many years ago. Leave love in your wake, not sorrow, and you'll either be drawn back when the time is right, or your next home will be even better. {{{{{ HUGE HUG }}}}}

Thanks ladies- we are working on finding a place. It's a hard blow. :( But luckily he is going to let us keep Tala out here free of charge and we can still come out and enjoy the property (fishing and such)
