Well, I just wanted everyone to see my tiny farm of my own. It exists in the corner of my kitchen with an antique gas stove. If you look carefully, there is also a red barn(shown on the plate)to house my would be animals! The metal match holder on the wall beside the right of the stove belonged to my home as a child in the 1950s when we had a gas stove. Along the top shelf of the stove is my Mama's spice holder that was always on the stove my entire life.  The little garlic pottery piece on the left was in the kitchen forever but in later years held paperclips, rubberbands and other useful items on Mom's craft table that was always up with projects on it.

I hope these photos come through as this is my first time trying to add them. I am going to check back and see if it worked.

That's so cute! I love old stoves (my passion is wood cook stoves, I just don't have one) and having your mom's stuff is the greatest.

Megan- The plate comes from Hartstone Pottery in Zanesville, Ohio. All american made beautiful pottery!!Check out their website sometime. The pottery is wonderful as it is vitrified and does not crack, craze, chip and is oven and microwave and dishwasher safe.

Hi All- The person I purchased the stove from said it would work and it does have the necessary gas line and attachment to a propane source. I have never tried it because I just wanted it to be used for decoration. There is quite a bit of rust inside the oven part which would have to be restored to use but the 3 burners on top look like they would work perfectly. Sometimes I envision cooking a meal on the stove and wonder how difficult it would be. I have no idea when these type stoves were made but someone who saw it suggested the 1930s. If anyone does know I would love to hear your input. I have long dreamed of having a small farm but DH is a city kind of guy so it really won't work. So, my solution has been to create a farm feeling in my kitchen which has an antique farm table and chairs and a few family items. I just recently recieved my first grain grinder (see post with pics under farm kitchen called I love my new grain grinder)to add another layer of "farm" living. With my kids grown, I have time to experiment with lots of ideas and MJF has so many great ideas for becoming more green and sustainable. Already several FarmGirls have answered my post with valuable tips for improving my first bread efforts. So Awesome! MJF can really allow anyone to be a farm girl through learning time honored skills from the families of the past. I am still working on perfecting the art of percolated coffee in the red coffee pot on the antique stove. I did some research and found a video from The QuaKer Kitchen in Illinois where a detail explanantion is given. So, this weekend my "Farm Chores" are to make more bread using the tips I have been given and work on percolated coffee using my Grandmother's coffee grinder to grind the beans. I am determined to perfect bread and coffee skils so wish me luck!!
