I recently hit the road with my mom (Ceejay48) on the Farmgirls On The Loose Road Trip! What a blast! It was such a treat to see all the different ranch and farm names and the brands for those! My DH & I may not have anymore than maybe a tiny little city lot where we call home but I sure want to feel like I'm back on the farm I grew up on...as much as possible! I am not sure that we will be able to move from here for quite some time. So I want to make the most of it!

What should we call our little island farm in the city in the middle of the Sonoran desert?

Robin started back as a teacher on July 27th, students started back on August 4th. Her step-son starts this coming week.

Here where I live in SW Colorado, they start back on August 22nd.

It's different all over the place it seems

Robin....hi from Ahwatukee (Phoenix). I kind of like Desert Jewell Farm. We do get such vibrant, sun-drenched colors here in our rocks, sky, flowers, and sunsets. Good luck with the new school year.

Is school in session in Arizona? We don't start here until after Labor Day.

Well, Michelle . . . guess she's too busy listening to the din of 2nd graders in her classroom.
I'll ask her on our next phone call.

I think you should pick a name that will educate people on the possibilities of living in the city in the desert. Maybe Urban Growing and Eating, LIving and Growing in the Sonoran. I am sure there are quick witted people who could come up with something catchy for you.

Saguaro Acres? :D any chance you could pull off a bee hive on or near your lot? "Cactus Honey" sounds like a match made in marketing heaven.

Oasis de Sonora? Oasis de Glendale? My Spanish stinks. Or maybe incorporate one of your favorite local plants or animals in the name- like Saguaro Acres (What can I say, I'm a Green Acres fan). Just some kooky ideas. Good luck finding the perfect name Robin.

Can't resist the idea of using "Oasis" somewhere in the name. Farm in the desert, it's a natural.
I spent many years on a 3/4 acre farm in Glendale on 64th drive between Maryland and Bethany Home Rd. It was certainly my oasis.
