We have wanted land since we married but until we knew that we were in KY for good (moved a lot for school) we didn't buy. I have been looking at land for eight years in the neighboring county to get an idea of what was a good price and to become knowledgable when we decided to put in an offer. From a driving around, cold call and info gleaned from another person selling their house we found the most amazing piece of property. The woman had died and her three daughters could not afford the large parcel along with the land they owned across the road. They were thrilled that we had young boys as they had grown up there.
The property backs a huge creek so it could not have been more perfect for the boys. Anyway long story short, they were still mourning mom and decided they would only sell us the acreage across the lane that did not back the creek and really was one giant pasture. Still the views were amazing and we had access to the creek. Property was all tied up with the other as far as liens and six months later we are stlll waiting. They now have to sell the entire thing to free any portion up.
We know what a great piece of property this is so we are willing to wait but after looking for so long we could lose this as well.

We're planning on getting bees next Spring. DH called me this morning from the front porch and said we'll never be able to have a garden because there were bunnies all over the grass and a mamma deer and two fawns eating at the fence line. I was so jealous of him! I told him that people have put in gardens for centuries and deer and bunnies have always been around and they eventually came to an understanding and coexistance. He will be in KY for another day before heading back to IN. We should be moved by September.

It is in Oldham County. We have actually had two other properties fall through over the years. Oldham is very expensive and this area is just lovely. It is close to everything but seems out in the middle of nowhere. Right by the feed store and you must go over the one lane bridge. Perfect family spot. Bonus is the fact my honey guy would share a fence line with us so great pollination odds!

What Laurie said, it may seem perfect, but if it doesn't turn out, then you'll know that there is either something wrong with the property you don't know about now, or to be open for the *really* right thing.

What county is the property in? We're moving to our little chunk of heaven in Butler county in a couple of months. Prices in the area are very inexpensive and we have 39+ acres. Sure would love to have a creek but alas, that "want" wasn't fulfilled but the peace and quiet and privacy are there in abundance. KY is a lovely state and it took us almost two full years of riding the backroads of the state until we found what we wanted. I hope your search has ended, too, and you'll be able to move to paradise soon.

I'm sorry you have to experience this. Finding a perfect fit property is hard to do for sure. Let's all keep our fingers crossed and send some prayers out for the best outcome!
