Hi ladies I am pretty new to MJF but I have always been a farmgirl ~ no matter where we lived. Right now we are renting a place. We are going next week to look at a piece of property and a cabin in Northern CA. The cabin sits on 1 acre, it has power, septic, well & phone running to the cabin. The cabin itself is a log cabin kit (with D shaped logs ~ round outside, flat inside). The cabin is about 1200 square feet and the inside is unfinished but it has the roof, fireplace with insert and all of the beams in for the second floor. The couple put it up last year and must sell it.

The best part is the owner financing! They are only asking $55,000.00 with $5,000 down and they will carry the rest. This is the perfect place for us. Enough land to grow gardens and have chickens without working ourselves to death! My husband is 59 & I am 49 all the kids have left so the house size is good. My DH is a carpenter and has built homes for years so finishing up the inside will be easy and pretty cheap too! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We are going on the 31st ( our anniversay) to look at it in person. I already have it decorated in my mind

Hi Tammy,
this sounds exactly like my husband and i will be embarking on in the future, my kids will be gone and we will be in our 50's then. I wish you all of the luck and happiness! You give me hope. I just dont want to be far from the kids (even though at that point they will be grown).

Tammy- I so envy you. My dream home would most definitely be a log home and the property size sounds perfect for you. I will be praying that all works out and soon you will be living your dream! Donna

I hope it all works out. It sounds perfect for the two of you. I have always wanted a log cabin too ! With your husband being a carpenter it should be ready for decorating in no time!

Wow! Sounds like a great deal! My husband is a carpenter too. It sure helps, doesn't it? (When they have time to work on their own stuff, that is!)

Have a great and blessed day!
