Please excuse my absence from the forum over these past few months. But....we have finally finished our farmhouse and will be moving into it in the next two weeks. This has been the fulfillment of a dream for both Hubbs and I...and the center of our attention for the whole past year. Gladly, the year is almost over and moving day is nighe. I am so looking forward to the commuting being over and settling into farm life....the slower pace....with more time to visit with my farmgal friends!!

oh wow, i bet you are so happy! Working on something yourself makes you love something that much more! I'm currently working on my own house trying some stuff. I have great respect for someone that did an entire house!

Good luck

Congratulations!!!!

I know just how excited your must be. As I was looking through the pictures on your farm site it was all so familiar. We to had build our own log home on my families farm. Our cabinets are hickory, have some of the same scones you have. Stone fire place, black appliances in the kitchen, hardwood floors (but ours are white oak) designed our own layout.

Had a friend help us get the shell up so it was under roof before winter, but then hubby and I did the rest. It took us 2 1/2 years till we moved in (made up our minds we weren't moving in till it was done) and that first night was like being on vacation. This home had been the project for so long, it was just like being in a dream to actually move it.

I wish you the same feeling that I get each day as at sit at my table looking out across the yard. What a blessing to have a home you love, that was created by the two of you and living in the country with all it wonderful gifts around you.

A saying that I had seen once and plan to stitch to put up on the wall Our House is made with logs and beams, But our HOME was made with love and dreams!

Wishing you many blessing and wonderful days ahead.

I have a question if you don't mind. What kind sealer are use using on the outside. I have to wash and seal the outside again this year and was wondering what others have had success with. It is a really big job for me and would like to find something that last. Thanks~

The great thing is that we did create it from scratch....we even drew up the plans ourselves. We started with a picture of the front of another house that we wanted to copy and went from there. Everything in the house is our own ideas (some borrowed from magazines, etc.) So, we have put our hearts and souls into this home....where we plan to spend the rest of our days. Thanks!!
