do you have 'fences' on your property? how about 'porches'?

we only have one fence .. it surrounds what looks like a stone shed with a tin roof .. (it's where we keep our 'farm equipment' .. loosely defined as 'riding lawn mower'! and we call it the 'corral' because when we have to shut the dogs behind a fence (hunting season right now in the forest we are in the midst of) ... it gives them a good little space to 'stretch out' ... going to build an even bigger area off the back of a new side porch we're having put on the back of one of our cabins ... for them to 'roam' early in the morning .. to keep them 'out of the woods' until we get up out of bed.

do you have porches? and how are they 'decorated'?

(we have two primitive antique rockers (and twig tables for our morning 'cuppa' coffee' .. and an antique cupboard .. a painted antique table and two chairs for 'porch suppers' .. and woven rag and hooked rugs on ours ... going to put some 'potted plants'out there next spring .. oh .. and hanging lanterns (even though it is wired for electricity.

tell us all about your fences and porches. frannie

Under the "Holiday" forum, there is a thread called "What's on your front porch". If you scroll down just a bit from this thread, it's right there. Thought this might help.

Because we have soooooo many posts at this point, our search function crashes if you type in "porches." It just can’t search through every post at this point. If you narrow it down to say, “in the last two weeks,” you might locate a topic first before you posted to make sure you aren’t going to be redundant. But certainly new comers can’t be expected to read EVERYTHING that’s here first. It would take days!

You can tell from the number of posts I’ve made that I’m not a frequent poster, but I have been able to check in at least once a day from day one. Since I too remember the postings about decorating porches (and they were lovely, Frannie, although not about Christmas specifically), I tried to find it myself (even before you responded Meadowlark), but I gave up after about ten minutes.

I'm not quite sure how to fix this rub other than to tell you Frannie, that since you’re such a prolific poster, you need to spend some time reading what’s here first and learning more about how the site works. (i.e. Carol responded to you on Friday about how to order our magazines but you posted that question again this weekend.) We certainly can’t expect everyone to read everything first or become skilled first at knowing all the functions available or I’d be in trouble right off the bat!!! And Frannie, go with the flow a bit more, responding to what others are talking about rather than trying so hard to start new threads. We’re here to help you Frannie, so slow down and learn a few rules first. Carol is help to help you on weekdays and you can e-mail her at carol@maryjanesfarm.org

Like the Dalia Lama said, “Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.”

There are already topics on how we decorate our porches and a topic on fences. You need to read the threads Frannie before you post.
