Hi Everyone,
We have been busy on the farm lately. The water wheel is water powered as of last weekend.

I am so proud. It has been a long journey to this point, over a year, but it is well worth it. The old mill pond is coming along. We still have some grass to plant and cleaning up, but the pond is where it was many years ago, also.

We hope to have the generator (that we bartered for) up and running sometime in the near future. But first we have a long list of farm projects, like getting the old sawmill back to working too. The awful drought we have had in Georgia over the last few years have taken a toll on a lot of trees here. We want to use the trees that are dying for lumber. It seems there is always something to do on the farm, isn't there?

Thank-you Tamara. I am sorry I haven't responded, but we have been so busy lately. The temps are in the 100's and the humidity is rough. I try to get my outside chores done in the morning. It is hot by 8:00.
I just never get caught up it seems. I know some of you know the feeling. Anyway, thanks again Tamara.

That is truly a wonderful achievement, and your pond is beautiful. I have enjoyed all the pictures of the water wheel's progress, but your little video is delightful...Bravo!

I did have tears Janice but it was when it first turned on the shaft without the water. Just seeing it turn for the first time was amazing! I caught it on the camera video and posted it. Billy didn't know I put that video on, but to me that little short clip sayes it all, the expression on his face.

I do know that feeling, Pam. You get so caught up in the journey, you're sad when it ends. Did you have tears in your eyes when you saw it work for the first time? Thanks for sharing this journey.

Thanks Janice and Jonni. The last couple of days have been the let down feeling, you know how you get when you have waited for something so long and it finally get here? Sorta exhaustion and excitement and a let down feeling all combined? We still have a lot of work to do but it was just so wonderful to see water come down the chute and the wheel turn just like it was suppose to.

Agreed...you and your husband have done miraculous things, Pam!!! He's a true craftsman, that one! Sure wish Georgia were closer...that pond looks awfully inviting.

Congratulations on such a wonderful preservation project!!
