Posted - Apr 22 2008 : 1:57:44 PM I found the most adorable little house for rent in Walla Walla, and everything about it is perfect for me! Of course, I'm not moving until June, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to apply for it and see if it could be held with a deposit.
And so, I have submitted the application to the landlord, and now I'm praying non-stop!
When I look at it logically, I most likely won't get it, since I guess there have been two other people going through the application process already, and I know they want it rented out by May. But the landlord has been communicating and everything, so I hope there's a little chance!
I would be so happy to have this little place as my own for a year or so while I finish school, but I suppose if it doesn't work out there will always be something else.
Anywho, had to share my excitement! :D

Posted - May 21 2008 : 07:52:11 AM Calling last night didn't work for her schedule, so I'm trying this afternoon or evening, so I will let y'all know how things work out! I will look into the Washington State Job Service, and see if I can find anything. I've been watching one site, can't remember what it's called (lazy me, I just save the url), and I also check the local Walla Walla paper at least twice a week.
What I'm wondering, though, is if I just asked her if she would mind if I go ahead with the lease, pay the deposit, and then maybe pay her part of the rent monthly until I get a job and can actually move. That way I have this perfect place guarunteed for when I move, and still give myself time to line up work. I don't see this taking longer than two months, so do you think it may be a sound idea? Of course, it revolves around whether or not she will accept the idea....

Posted - May 20 2008 : 2:36:32 PM It must be providential!!!
And my guess is the Landlord would probably love to have someone who will love living in their property too. That way they know you will take care of it, and not trash it.
I hope it works out for you cottage and job wise!!!!
Keep us updated!

Posted - May 20 2008 : 1:53:05 PM So here's an update, lol, due to an interesting turn of events. The landlady had found someone to rent it who could move in immediately, and the matter was dropped--I haven't heard from her in weeks. This morning, however, I found an email in my inbox from her saying that the man she had found to rent it would no longer work out, and wanted me to call her if I'm still interested. So YAY! I'm going to call her this evening when I get off work and see how things work out. I'm still stuck in the super-fun process (*gags*) of lining up job interviews, etc. over that direction, and although I could live off savings for a while, it's probably not wise to sign a lease contract until I have a job lined up. So I am PRAYING HARD that something comes through with jobs SOON so that I can take this opportunity while it's being handed to me. ![](icons/icon_smile.gif)
I can even have my cats and dogs in this rental, and that's a plus for me.... so I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 4:28:02 PM Oh, thanks all for your encouragement! I should know one way or another tomorrow, although she said everything was just about perfect with another person who could move in right away. So I'm just staying open minded and I'm ready to look for something else, I know it will all come together the way it's meant to.

Posted - Apr 27 2008 : 10:22:20 AM Good Luck Jodi. I know having a place to call your own, especially while working hard to finish school would make a huge difference. Don't give up though. I've always found that if one thing doesn't work out, a better thing comes along:)
