A few of you wonderful Farmgirls have asked to see my kitchen that is around the corner on my laundry room pics in the thread "Laundry room" So here are a few. It is in the midst of being decorated as the rest of the house is. We built our home in 2005 and moved in in 2006 but I still have mountains of unpacking to do. My DH and I are collectors of vintage items. What I really mean is we are Pack Rats of the worst kind! Many items in our home have come other who have finished with them. Some have even come from others garbage piles and dumpsters. We take them and breath new life into them. In the kitchen you will see that very tall cabinet. We have revamped it to hold my baking dishes and cast iron wear. I will try to find the pics of it and post them as it is awesome. It will also show you what a sick woman I am, as it it FILLED to the max and no doubles. (those I store in the attic.) My pots and pans are housed in drawers in the island, along with my dishes. You will also notice a Craftsman tool chest next to the stove. That is filled with all my cooking utensils. No more rummaging through that packed unorganized drawer.

That's a great kitchen, Betty Jo! Oh the things I could do in a kitchen that size!!!! Very warm and inviting, with all the glowing wood. Thanks so much for sharing!

What fabulous decorations, Betty Jo! Who would have thought to use a Craftsman tool chest...now we are all going to want one in our kitchens!

The First pic is take from our loft looking down onto the kitchen. You can't see them in the pics but there is two antique pedal bikes hanging from the ceiling beam. Also a motorcycle on display in the loft. Was to be 2 but with a grand-baby on the way the other display area will be transformed into a nursery. Hopefully the antique store we were in two years ago on our vacation will still have the old crib buried in the pile out back it's store when we go up north this year.

Marie, my DH is an electrician turned antique motorcycle restorer. I also come from a long line of family that worked in the skilled trades. In my first marriage I married a pencil pushing store manger who could not find his way out of a paper bag much less fold it up. Boy was he a trip, glad he's gone!

The bar stools came from a place on the Internet. I'll look and see if I can find the name of the site. I hope to never have to buy them again. Bar stools are very expensive and we are frugal. It took us 3 years to find them. They needed to be extra tall, swivel, sturdy, and I want fabric seat and back with no arms. The seats also could not be to wide so we could fit three with room to stand next to them. So these fit the bill. I'm not sure I like the fabric but that can easily be changed.

The tool chest is a great idea. I love the "arial" photo.

What a pretty kitchen. In that first picture are you standing on a ladder or hanging from the ceiling fan while taking the picture?

[Oops, hit the wrong button] Meant to add that Daddy was an electrician, and Bo was a mechanic. I grew up around those tool chests, and I love 'em.

What a pretty nest you've made for yourself. I can only dream of the day when I am able to build a kitchen of my own where I can have a craftsman tool box right where I want if I want to! I know my Bo and my Dad would both get a kick out of it. Girls raised blue-collar are the best kind.
