Hello Ladies, My husband hears me chat about what I have learned on this wonderful site. And how wonderful all you ladies are. So he has a question. We have a natural spring on our farm, he wants to know if he pumps the water out of the pool that is has made will it keep the same water level? And will it come back? Why hasnt it over flowed? Is the ground absorbing it naturally?......Well I guess that is more than 1 question...But he is in touch with his feminine side.....got to love em

Deborah,

We have a natural spring on our farm and it has never going dry. My grandfather built a concrete retaining wall (almost 100 yrs ago) around it with an opening in the bottom to let the water flow out into the creek that runs through the farm for 2 miles to the Cumberland River. About 40 years ago my dad installed a pump run by electricity to pump water from the spring into my grandparents' house, our house and my aunt's house.

I have many memories as a child playing around the spring and creek. My children are experiencing the same joy playing at the creek. It is the best place to be on a hot summer day.

Michele, Thanks I will let my huband know what you have suggested. He will surley comb the internet now looking for information. We are wanting to have a green house next year and some goats and chickens....So this would be a great water source
Thanks again

Deborah,
My dad has a spring on his place. Been in use for almost a hundred years. We have a stainless steel tank around the spot where it comes up. Then a pipe running to a stock tank. The only time it slows down, is when we have a dry summer. Other wise it always runs. Best water you can drink. Google it, and you will find plenty of ideas to "tap" this water source. You can build a wooden box too. Gosh I wish I had one on our place, so I could use it to cool milk like they used to. We run cattle up there every year, and that is their supply of water.

Michele
