I am really focusing on my dream right now. My dream is to have a horse breeding ranch that will produce world class Straight Egyptian Arabians. Please help me come up with an original name that sounds respectable, not snooty, and will be easy for people to remember.

The winning entry will get a special secret surprise from me. Feel free to enter as many ideas as you can!

I was thinking the same thing as Rene', that it would be neat to name the ranch after one of your foundation breeding stock. That way, when you are breeding the 5th, 6th and 7th generation of award winning Arabian's, you will never lose the "roots" of your foundation line. The name of the horse that started it all will always follow each animal born in each generation. Wouldn't that be neat? Just a thought on my part. Don't worry, when the name finally comes you'll be saying to yourself "DUH!!! Why didn't I think of that SOONER!!? --- Tracy

I think you should give it a name that is personal, give it a title that has your name in it or a family member's name.

Alee's Arabians (did somebody already say that?)

Did you say that you lived in Wyoming or Montana? How about Wyoming's Egypt or Montana's Egypt? Something like that.

Egypt in Montana?

Egypt in Wyoming?

Arabian's Wyoming?

Arabian's Montana?

Alee's Ranch and Farm?

Alee's Ranch?

Alee's Horses?

Big Horn's Arabians?

You grew up near a mountain.......The Horses Mountain!

Big Horn Mountain Ranch

I am running out of ideas for now.

What beautiful animals - thanks for sharing the photos. I will bet; in the right moment the perfect name will present itself...maybe TALA ACRES- I googled TALA and found one of the definitions is MUSIC or Rythem - while I know little about this beautiful breed.. I am a cowgirl and know that there is a natural rythem with horses that is truly hard to define.....

Hi Marie!

Finances took a turn for the worse in March as I got laid off of my day job after a drunk driver crashed into my car (luckily it was early morning hours and my family and I were inside asleep!). Had things continued my husband and I were going to pay off our debts and be able to purchase my first Straight Egyptian Arabian filly. She is beautiful and sweet. The first off spring from a up and coming Stallion that is going to become a household name for Straight Egyptian Arabian breeders. His name is HS Infinite and the filly's name is Tala www.rockinheart.com-
Infinite

And Tala:

Someday though! I really want Tala! She has always been so sweet -even at weaning. She is a 'in your pocket' but respectful filly.

Rene= thanks so much for the link! I will bookmark it!

Wait, what happened that it's on hold?! Oh no!

[You'll soon see that, as I'm a 23-year old student with very little savings about to downsize from a 2BR unit in a house to a 1BR apt, I will be farm-living vicariously through all the fine ladies in the forums.]

It seems my dream is put on hold for yet another year. But I am going to keep dreaming and focusing on working towards making it a reality. I like your suggestions. Please keep them coming. Right now I am kind of leaning towards something like "Cloud Peak Arabians" or "High Desert Arabians" or even maybe "Big Sky Arabians" I like the idea of something earthy in the name, but who knows? Maybe I'll end up drawing a name out of a hat!

Alee, I think you've got it already. I can't think of anything nicer than Cloud Peak Arabians, or Cloud Peak Ranch. It's both poetic and realistic (places you geographically, I mean). If nobody is already using one of those, of course...

Hmmm...I think Dalyn might have a point...sometimes just seeing the place might get you inspired and it "might name itself" so to speak.

In the meantime, more names:

Since your on a mountain: King of the Mountain Ranch (we are assuming these horses are "royalty" right )
More Mountain Names: Majestic Mountain Ranch
Mystic Mountain Ranch

Sultan's Favorite Ranch (Arabian background)
Desert Dancer Ranch
Elegant Egyptians

Maybe based on horse behavior?
Whinnny Ranch
WonderWhinnyRanch
Canteranch

I like the ones that combine the names of the owners. There is a farm I know about run by a husband/wife named Alan and Emily...so their farm is called Emandal (EM and AL) which makes it sound sort of exotic. It took me awhile to realize it was just a combination of their names!
We already have Noralee (aint taking the credit there for sure
but what about Aleenora or some combo of you, Nora, and hubby's name?

Ok, I'm all tapped out, I think Alee. I know you will find the perfect name!

Very fun! I am surrounded by horse ranches...live on a small horse ranch myself. I also have straight Egyptian. I'd give him to ya if I coould, but he's my husband's baby *U*
The Arabian ranch next door is Irwin's Arabians after their last name. I think most of the ranches here are named after a last name. Mine is DOuble D Ranch- because my husband and I are both D names. Doug and Dalyn.

Maybe name it after your husband and yourself. There are some fun names around here-
"Rattlesnake Gulch" all the way west at the foothills for obvious reasons *U*
Tumbleweed Farm, and then the horse ranch names are named some fancy names.
I think you should name it after you see it- sometimes you get a hill, or some other unique thing. We are on a hill, and have tons of quails, so a good name would have been Quail Hill or somthing...you see? I named my farm 10 times before we actually bought this ranch though. Then I called it Daily Walkin' Farm but all the ranchers told me it's not a farm. Unless you are growing food. Since I had horses and goats only at first, I changed the name. I'm still better at animals than garderning!

Ha Alee, I was thinking to post something in the forums about a farm/animal sanctuary just the other day, but I'll wait--your dream is closer than my dream at the moment

Ha! I know about the name issue..are you trying to set up a website? Alot of names are taken already, I know! Actually, there are many farms and, I can probably assume the names are duplicated, but are fine, if they are separated by different states, but it's hard online if there is a duplication.

Ok, I'll throw my hat in: *WARNING-some of these names have no explanation, other than they sound good to me*

ROLLING THUNDER RANCH

Mountain Cloud Ranch (you're talking about a mountain plus Cloud Peak)

Silk Road Ranch (Since these are Arabians, you are denoting their "Eastern" heritage)

Desert Dancer Ranch

Hmm..another thing Alee, I umm, happen to KNOW Egyptian, so have you thought about adding some of these words to the repertoire (although, it might make the name sound a bit out there).

Baraka = Lucky
Emir = Prince
Q'amar = Moon
Shems = Sun

Well, those are the more attractive words, I think.

Hmmm...I'll think some more about it...

Sea Horse Ranch is already taken- that's another issue to contend with- names that are already taken.

The ranch will be located in either Wyoming or Montana if that helps any.

I grew up in the Big Horn Mountains with the crowning jewel being Cloud Peak. I was thinking of trying to incorporate something about that into the name? Still not sure.

I love all the ideas! I can't wait to see what else you all will come up with!

Diane - hard to follow that one!

My thought was, and it is not as unique as the Sea Horse Ranch -

A for Alee (who is a great lady), plus
A for Arabian, plus
a ranch name that reflects the old ranch days.....
