After the wonderful snow pics Lisa posted my hubby and I looked all over Idaho.. He is excited. It is closer to our family in CA, it would be easier to move there than to move to MO..Our family would come visit us more often in ID than in MO- that is for sure!
So I need help. I would love to stay near a Sam's Club but since there is only 2 that may not be likely..We would love to stay where it is green and pretty but gets plenty of snow in the winter. Would like at least 2 acres and would need a nice big house- we have 6 children and who knows if we will have more. We would like to stay at $1000 or less per month. Yes, we will be renting.
Everyone in Idaho please share the best places to look based on our criteria.. thanks for the help!

Well I live 30 miles west of Lewiston, ID, in Washington. I work in Lewiston though. It IS hot in the summer. We are a little over 1000 feet higher and a little cooler year round. A little more snow and alot fewer people. Mostly rolling hills and wheat fields--well snow right now.

Latah county is resonably priced. Check out Moscow, Potlatch, Troy, St. Maries, Genesse, or even Viola. I would look at www.welcomehomepm.com That is our rental company and they have always been great to us. Also look into the USDA Rural Development program. For around $1000 a month or less you could probably get into a house and they do loans to low income/poor credit households if that is a concern. Also there is a Costco in CDA and one in Lewiston/Clarkston.

We recently relocated to North, North Idaho. Housing is super cheap here, in Boundary county. We moved here to raise our boy up in the country. You can ride your quad on the road here....legally. I really only get to a few cities here in Idaho, since I have a baby.
Bonners Ferry/Moyie Springs, where I love is pretty remote. There is a Safeway and another local chain, that is reasonable. There are huge montains all around. Today I saw a momma and baby moose about 1/4 mile from our house. Everyone is REALLY friendly. And the best part, is that you can join my Farmgirl Chapter, since it's only me now! He he ;)
When we have any big, big shopping, gourmet, ethnic, or health food needs, we travel 30 miles south to Sandpoint. It's the cutest city! It's like college town meets the old west. It has 6,000 people who live there, and there is everything you need.

How exciting! I grew up in Lewiston, ID. VERY hot in the summer and almost no snow in the winter as it is in the Banana Belt. So much so, it has become a larger retirement city - it's beautiful and a seaport as it is on the confluence of two large rivers. BUT for snow etc. and land go about 50 miles in any direction from there and you have farmland (the Palouse is GORGEOUS) North/South mountains and rivers east/west (spent summers up in Kooskia and Syringa at the grandparents, BEAUTIFUL). Northern Idaho can't be beat for beauty year-round and you can be "out in the boonies" but 15 minutes from larger shopping areas etc. :) There are also some wonderful little communities and towns scattered about, Kendrick, Genessee etc. all very different from each other and absolutely wonderful. Well, that's what I know from my end of Idaho, not much but I do hope it helps *~* how exciting to be looking for a new place! BEST of luck and have a blast looking *~*
