This past weekend was a blast-literally! We invited 50 of our closest friends and celebrated my mom's 65th birthday......with a HUGE fireworks display!

What better use of all our land than to blow stuff up and watch all the pretty colors.

Really, my family has been in the fireworks business for over 30 years - my father for over 40, and me personally since 1984. It took 2 whole days to set up. You couldn't ask for better weather.

And yes, we did invite surrounding neighbors and gave them sufficient warning so they could protect their animals. Most thought our chickens wouldn't lay for the next month, but yesterday afternoon, I plucked 6. The silkies have survived 2 other shows, so we didn't hear much cackling from them. the dog was boarded for the weekend.

We also had fun blowing up pumpkins-er, I should say, hubby had a little too much fun blowing up pumpkins.
