Posted - Sep 13 2007 : 11:10:23 AM o.k. I'm gonna ask for name ideas for my place. Yep..I live in the city..but on a large lot. I grow all types of flowers, have a cottage garden. Enjoy country cottage style decorating. Have a pet duck. anyhow..you get the idea.:0) I'd like to name my place. Any ideas? You can see some pics of my home interior at www.gardengoose.blogspot.com on one of the posts titled "corners of my home" (I also post images of the flowers from my garden and write about my pet duck.) Anyhow..I have been wanting to give this place a name for a while..but don't know what I want to call it. Any ideas? I'd love names with the word "cottage" in it.

Posted - Sep 18 2007 : 2:00:02 PM thanks Frannie, I love that poem. Well..I ran several names by the family here..and of all the names that I could think of everyone kept saying that they liked "Garden Goose Cottage" the best. I must say..I think that in a way it does fit, as before I got my little ducks I had researched geese as pets.:0) ha... And I love to garden, and I like geese and ducks..and my store name is Garden Goose on etsy, as is the name of my blog..and my email address..I actually was at one point going to open a store here in our town called Garden Goose, but that plan has been put on back burner for a time. If I ever do have a boutique it will probably be named Garden Goose..so..I think it is fitting also to give the house that name. I honestly think it does fit. I call myself "The Garden Goose" over on my blog..and I must say that..the name has definitely grown on me. It gives me a smile when I sign my blog name as such.:0) Might sound "corny" to others..but I like it and it has gotten the best reviews here amongst the family members as the name they like the best too.

Posted - Sep 18 2007 : 12:43:26 PM tina .. think of what is personally important to you and your family .. your lifestyle .. your loves .. your beliefs .. something innocently said that 'speaks' of your home.
for instance .. i had been trying to think of a name for our home in maryland. i was standing on the front porch with a sweet little five year old boy (my 'son-in'love' .. his dad was my first husband) .. he looked out into the woods .. and sweetly and innocently said: "look at the big 'old crooked tree out in the hollow" and i knew INSTANTLY .. that we lived at Crooked Tree Hollow. even wrote that 'fairy poem' about it .. it became our 'home mantra':
Star Dust of Silver Moon Beams of Gold Spun by the Fairie Folk from stories often told. They live in the HOLLOW of and olde CROOKE TREE .. for the 'star dust of memories' .. is 'magic' you see!
Is night-time a very special time at your place? Moon Beam Cottage ... Star Dust Cottage
Garden Goose Cottage is very sweet .. and if that is what is tugging at your heartstrings .. then that is what it should be.

Posted - Sep 18 2007 : 12:31:16 PM here are some of the other names I was considering as I do live only 2 blocks from the Intercoastal Waterway:
Whistling Shore Cottage Grassy Gardens Cottage Sunnyside Cottage Wildflower Shores Cottage Misty Gardens Cottage
But..I may just go with Garden Goose Cottage though...as everyone here at my house likes the Garden Goose Cottage name:0) So..I think that name wins! Plus my husband has already designed a Garden Goose logo for me..that I think would look great on a plaque. Thanks gals!

Posted - Sep 18 2007 : 11:51:36 AM Tina,
How about City Cottage, or Countrified Cottage? or Garden Cottage? Or Corner Cottage? or Little Country Cottage?
I also like Garden Goose Cottage, especially since you already use that name. Will it help you to figure out the initials of the names under consideration, and see if you prefer CC or LCC or GGC, or whatever?

I was asking my daughter if she could think of my favorite flower..as I can never ever limit it to just one..ha. and she said "mom..all flowers are your favorites but you tend to love yellow" and she is right. Posted - Sep 13 2007 : 12:15:21 PM Tina- In England, everybody names their homes (cottages)! There was: Violet Cottage, Rose Cottage, Lilac Cottage, Bluebell Cottage, Swan Cottage, Daffodil Cottage, Elm Cottage, Wisteria Cottage...etc. Wow, and they were all so cute! Wouldn't Chrysanthemum Cottage be a sweet name? Just kind of rolls off the tongue. But, I bet I have been no help at all and have probably confused you even more. Sorry. (I always wanted to name my house Tidgy Cottage. Over there, they have these frozen sausage things they call Tidgy Toads. Hilarious. It just cracked me up. Tidgy is small, apparently.) Good luck.

Posted - Sep 13 2007 : 12:04:18 PM What is your favorite flower? A friend of mine named her farmette "Heartsease Cottage" because there were tons of Johnny-Jump-Ups at her place when she moved there and an old-fashioned name for them is "heartsease."
