Help me name my new home- what we hope will be a mini farm- chickens and gardens.. whoever submits the name we choose will receive a handknit dishcloth in fall colors. You can see the dishcloths I knit on my knitting site http://debbieknits.net
You can see the house on my website http://myvintagehome.com
Just so you have an understanding.. we are renters. We have never lived in a house that we were completely thrilled with.. We either liked the property but had faults with the house or the other way around. We recently moved to Nevada. My husband chose the house. I don't know what he was thinking- it is horrible. It is a old modular home in rickety condition.. THe property is horrible.. THe house is too small so we are moving.
God has blessed us beyond belief with this new house. For one it is newer- the newest we have lived in. It has a pantry I haven't had one in 15 years, a laundry room.. left a nice laundry room behind and sure missed it. a fireplace-haven't had 1 in a year. the kids rooms have nice walk in closets..It has flat land that we could throw down grass seed, do raised beds, build a chicken coop.. and it has a garage (all of our stuff is in storage). So we feel incredibly blessed.. I want the name to show how blessed we feel.
So get those submissions in. We are moving in 2 weeks or so. When we pick a name I will send you the dishcloth!
Thanks!

Blessings, Debra

we came up with a name.. it came to me while working with a language translator.. I typed in house of faith.. and in spanish that is casa de la fe. I fell in love with it. then in my Bible reading last night I was reading in galations. He was talking about being good to all men especially ones of the household of faith. THere was my confirmation.
Thank you all for playing. I will draw names from all who submitted a name as soon as I finish knitting this washcloth- I should be done by the end of the weekend..

Blessings, Debra

Debra,
I was thinking about a name for your new home and the word vintage (from "myvintagehome)kept coming back to my mind - found this list of definitions, in case anything leaps out at you.
Definitions of vintage on the Web:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-42,GGLD:en&defl=en&q=define:vintage&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title

I also like the idea of using blessings or blessed in the name.

Perhaps another variation--based on the old hymn "Showers of Blessing"

There shall be showers of blessing
This is the promise of love
There shall be seasons refreshing
Sent from the Saviour above.

Refrain
Showers, showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

What a nice large home with good storage! I like the way it's laid out and how nice the owner left a large screen TV. You'll have lots of fun with this house! Congratulations! Now...to think of a name.......how about, Rolling Acres Farm?

Hi Debra,
Beautiful house. The name that came to mind was "Answered Prayers Farm". It seems that you did get all of your prayers answered!!

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!

how about promise fields. or promised acres. I wanted to name our cabin Curmudgeons Cove but my husband, the good Natured curmudgeon didnt care for it. So it is Bear Rock for the giant rock in the back yard and the bear that visits nightly!

Blue Skies Farm

(as in:Blue skies
Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see

Bluebirds
Singing a song
Nothing but bluebirds
All day long

Never saw the sun shining so bright
Never saw things going so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When youre in love, my how they fly

Blue days
All of them gone
Nothing but blue skies
From now on)

Sorry.. for the bookmarks. google crochet bookmark patterns. I found all of them online..

Hello Debra. Your new house is beautiful.Love the way the kitchen is set up with the pantry and wrap around bar. Your needlework is so pretty. I especially like...well.....everything, the bookmarks, shawl, washcloths. Would love to have your pattern for the hexagon potholders, bookmarks. Your children are so precious looking. Your son that is napping looks so peaceful and sweet. You sound like a very happy wife and mother and it's easy to see you love your home and homemaking. Bless you and your family in your new home. Tracy
