Posted - Aug 16 2007 : 02:57:38 AM Here is an update on our good friend Maryworth Gingerpot (as Jenna named her)....seems she has been very busy. Note the egg sack hanging right behind her. It will be fun to see these little babies grow up to be as handsome as their Mama. Oh yea....I also found another one on a different tomato plant. What a happy garden!

Posted - Aug 27 2007 : 06:51:47 AM My adopted uncle found a very similar spider on his farm northwest of town. I checked it out on www.whatsthatbug.com. It is an golden orb spider. We can't find out if it is native to SD, so he is going to bring it in for the winter. I gave him the aquarium we had for the turtle(he ran away, seriously). I hope it works. It will give him some company for the winter. He's kind of a hermit.

Posted - Aug 17 2007 : 10:21:15 AM My husband found a Spider in the laundryroom last weekend.. Right above the back door.. he asked how i didn't even see it as I was going in & out with the Dogs..He thinks of course I'm just ignoring it being there.. because i'm perfectly content to allow them in the house.. (Remember of course.. this is the man that Will scream over certain Spiders.. ) i took a couple pictures.. Not sure how they'll show up.. It is a Very small Spider.. But does have very long legs.. AND DID the Zig Zag too! So.. Can't wait to have time & get the picture up.. I came home from worm & it's gone.. I asked Chicken Little if he "moved" it or "Something" & he swears he did not.. So.. maybe she just didn't like all the attention she was getting & relocated herself .. Sweetie & I have an unspoken agreement.. He is allowed to "decobweb" the house only twice a year.. & THIS is not the Season.. He's not allowed to touch a web until after Halloween now! So..I'm going to see if i can find our where she's moved this weekend..
Any guess now as to what MY housekeeping tactics are girls?

Posted - Aug 16 2007 : 07:23:59 AM She's a real beauty, Bev. I still haven't seen any like her at the farm. It's still a little early for them here. Wouldn't you love to see the babies come out? What a cool picture that would be! :)
