Dear friends,

I posted earlier about our new farm, just west of Spokane, Washington,
in Lincoln County. It's a 20 acre property which is about half
in woods and half in pastures, with a 1566 sq ft
manufactured home which is in perfect condition, built
in 1998. Our offer was accepted, the inspection found the home to be in perfect condition with no repairs required, and our financing looks to be going without a hitch. Closing will be Aug 15th, and my boss is very supportive of my getting a job transfer to Moses Lake, which is only 100 miles west of the property. I should be able to work at home a couple days a week, plus my retirement is coming up in only 4 years.

Here's a link for some photos:

We can hardly wait to move over there!! Of course, if the phone company goes on strike Aug 13th, that will throw a monkey
wrench in the whole plan and we will not move until
September. We will make good use of the winter months to plan our garden and farming strategies, and we're learning all we can about dairy goats right now. My husband is a former alpaca ranch hand, and I've had horses and goats in the past so I think we will be on good footing to start off with. I'm sure we will have lots of questions for you goat gals out there!!

That's it for now!!

Deborah,
Thanks so much for sharing pictures of your beautiful farm. I've been toying with the idea of painting our house red and your pictures have convinced me to! I'd already decided to paint the barn and chickie house red and I think it'll look great to just have everything match. We're surrounded by pine trees, so it will make a nice contrast. Now I'm really itchin' to paint! :)

Thanks so much, sister farmgirls!! I appreciate all your kind notes. When we went out for the inspection I just fell in love all over again with this beautiful little farm.

We just got our loan locked in at 5.25% interest and all systems appear to be "go". We spoke with our condo manager about a move-out date of Aug 31st or Sept 15th, it's kind of hard to tell what date to pick because I work for the phone company and there is a possible strike as of Aug 13th, and since I'm in management I would be required to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week if they do call a strike, so - that's a bother but one I can live with. We've got all kinds of plans for the future and will enjoy watching the farm unfold and grow.
