What about a badge for basic mechanics? My dad taught me to do things like check & change oil, change tires, etc. It's a good set of skills to have!

I am fortunate that I live in an area where chivalry is not dead. The two times I had a flat in the last 20 years, a man quickly stopped and changed it for me. And I have a wonderful husband who takes care of our vehicles. But I recognize that not everybody is so fortunate and those skills are very helpful. Our daughter will be learning these things along with our son (who, by the way, is quite capable in household chores like laundry & dishes).

That is a good idea Kyria. I work at an automotive repair shop and teach "Automotive Assertiveness for Women" classes. Even if you don't do your own work on your vehicle, it is good to know how if the time arises when you need to.
