This is what happens when it's dark and you decide to help hubby unload auction goodies while walking down 7 cement steps-Fractured Fibula via ankle- Er from 10 till 2:30 a.m. crutches with follow up with orthopedics in a day or two for a permanent cast likely for 6-8 weeks. I am so mad! Bruce is knee deep in radiation treatments for the next two plus weeks every day and now I'm laid up. Daughter and son coming home for a week or so-pre-planned months ago - so they will be busy taking care of both of us. This was not what I had planned-Send good - healing thoughts and patience cuz this old farmgirl has reached her limit!

Love, Melody

Melody, hope all is healing well. Prayers for you and hubby being lifted up in Ohio. I am typing to you one handed as I too had a fall and now have a plate wires and screws in my left humorous. This has helped me remember how lucky I am to live in this community. Just in time for Thanksgiving.

Vanessa : Farmgirls are the BEST! Thank you so much Vanessa for the 'goodies!' The little finger puppets are adorable! And, the soap and book and I LOVE the little pumpkins.

How very thoughtful of you - Very sweet!! It really made my day....

Next week my temp splint is removed and a plaster cast will be placed for another 3 weeks- UGGGH-then a walking boot and therapy. Bruce had me propped up at the dining room table today to clean some copper he won at auction -the very night I broke my leg-so I am being productive a bit at a time-I'm not a patient "patient" but at least I can maneuver however wobbly on those darn crutches and get a few things done so long as I don't have to carry anything. Thank you again dear friend-It meant a LOT to me.

Love, Mel

Melody, I am so sorry to hear about this awful fall you had and now some orthopedic surgery next week! I am glad that at least your kids can come down and help you both. Praying that your surgery goes well and that hubby's radiation does too. Thanks for letting us know what has been going on.

Mel, that sounds like a bit of a tough road ahead, but it sounds like your kids will be a big help for you in the meantime. Looking forward to surgery is not fun…but once over, I am sure you will heal up quickly. Sending you get well wishes from MA!

(((Mel))) You're having your own private hurricane for sure. Do you have transportation to and from the doctor and hospital? I hope your daughter will be there to help out with everything at least in the beginning. Meals on Wheels might be a good option if it's available in your area.
