All I can say about today is that Annie and I got through it. I'm having my house leveled and it's on pier & beam. There will be steel piers around the outside of the house and traditional piers under the house. My house is shifting to the east, west, and south. My yards slopes in those directions. Seems like most Texas dirt shifts. With the jackhammers on the side & front porches, two broken water lines, and Annie barking I had two glasses of Merlot by three o'clock. Mario, the owner, fixed both water pipes so I wasn't without water for very long. It will start all over again in the morning but it should be quieter since all the jackhammering is done.

Thanks Judith. My sister asked me today if I wanted her to come over and bang some pots & pans around if it was too quiet for me, I told her no thanks, and we both had a good laugh.

Glad to hear it is finished and maybe things can get back to normal for you and Annie. Maybe you can take the weekend to relax and have some quiet times.

Thanks Michelle. I was all set for a long peaceful sleep but some critter kept coming and going in the back yard so Annie was up and down all-night barking and wanting out. A couple of times I let her out and she always ran to the back fence but the critter was gone by the time Annie got off the deck.

Yesterday, day 3 came and went so did all of my reserved energy. The work went well but all the noise and confusion slowly shut me down. I had a hard time hanging on to my peace of mind and soul. After the workers left, I relaxed a little but only slept one-hour last night.

Day 4 and all work is done, and will say well done, and all is quiet once again. The question is would I do it again and the answer is of course I would because it had to be done.

Day two of the house leveling project and it should be a quieter day for Annie and me. The owner will be working by himself today under the house. His workers are helping to finish up another job. So far I am very pleased with him doing what he said he will do. To get the Bobcat into the backyard so it could drive the pilings at the back of the house they had to take down the chain link fence between my side porch and neighbor's privacy fence. It was back up before they left and they had also shut both gates. Shutting gates is a big thing with me, I'm had workers leave for the day and not shut the gates and I would let Annie out. Annie will go through an open gate.

Thanks all for your encouraging words. They help and Lisa it did feel like the house was coming down around me when there were jackhammers going on the front & side porches and under pending being taken off on the east side and back of house.

Oh my Lord Sara! At first, I thought you meant they were leveling it, as in a tear down! Either way, it is no fun, but hopefully the Merlot helps some.
