Posted - Apr 12 2024 : 2:50:09 PM We have been making major changes in our backyard this week! We officially decided we wanted to expand our corral and keep our 2 heifers for breeding. We will also be putting in some feed pasture. We also made plans to expand my garden and put in some fruit trees. In all my excitement I forgot a before picture, but I found an older one that shows most of the yard we are working on.
![]() ![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/2024/04/20230614_211305.jpg?v 49335263) Just off the right side of the picture is where my garden was. We have now torn down the garden gate and moved my raised boxes and brought in loads of compost to fill in where the pasture will go. We will be starting the fence tonight. I will keep you all updated!

Posted - Jul 10 2024 : 2:14:36 PM Terri, I am so jealous. I love blackberries. One day when I can get mine to grow, I hope to make yummy cobblers and crisps. I will have to try a raspberry one!
I wanted to make some of the raspberry cookies, but I grabbed the wrong ingredient from the store by accident. Now I will just freeze some raspberries until I can head back and get the correct one lol!

Posted - Jul 10 2024 : 07:00:10 AM We are in blackberry season here on my farm. A favorite preparation is cobbler/crisps. They tend to stretch the dessert into a sharable quantity. Just an idea.

Posted - Jun 28 2024 : 3:03:24 PM Judith, I know the peas hate hot weather but I am keeping my fingers crossed lol! If they don't survive this next planting, I will wait until fall and try again.

Posted - Jun 26 2024 : 3:18:58 PM Peas can be difficult to grow in hot weather. Out here I used to plant them in the fall or late winter; they really liked the cooler weather. Beans are another matter; they love the heat if they get enough water and no bugs.

Posted - Jun 26 2024 : 1:48:57 PM I had to replant more green bean and pea seeds. They decided to die on me. It makes me sad because I should be eating my peas by now. But on the bright side one of my squash plants has really taken off and has officially begun climbing the trellis. We have been getting high 90's temperatures. Hopefully my garden hangs in there.

Posted - Jun 10 2024 : 1:19:11 PM JUdith, I do have my mint box away from most of the garden. I decided to put it by the trees.
Denise, we are having that problem with morning glory this year. It's extremely frustrating. It's in the side flower garden.
Thank you, Rea.
I agree, Nancy. I still have so much to do. I look forward to when it's all complete.

Posted - Jun 08 2024 : 03:10:49 AM Good idea to contain that mint. It spreads like wildfire. We can't seem to get rid of the stuff that was here when we moved in. It took over a whole flower bed.
