hey farmgirls .. i'm finally back home again (for awhile). been travellin' here and there .. but am excited that we have a reliable computer service now (windstream) .. i also had my lap top powered for 'wi-fi' while i was visiting in ohio .. but there are lots of 'things' to learn in order to use it to it's utmost ability .. HA! now all i have to do is find some TIME!
i have a dozen or more dolly bodies cut out and have a dolly demonstration set for this weekend after this one .. and then a big show (our Art in the Alley) in early June .. SEW .. i gotta' git to SEWin'!!
went to a fun primitive antiques show in Ohio weekend before last .. then headed on a little further north to spend a few days with the 'grands'. such fun! while in toledo .. i got my hair chippy-chopped again .. and more Fire Engine Red and Ho' Yaller stripes put in it! Want to be able to jus' 'shake my head' in the mornings when we go on our fun Mississippi Paddle Boat trip from Memphis to New Orleans next month!
Have a couple more shows i wanna' hit t'wixt now and then too! AND .. i have just got to get to those shoppes of mine and 're-vamp' them before i head back outta' town again!
Am really excited that i got a sweet note from MaryJane asking for me to send her some dollies for a little mention in her magazine! REEEEEEEEEEEEEELY must make that one a priority!!!
Got some 'great' news about my Cardio-Lite Stress Test that i took a few weeks ago. I was jus' sure that i had had a little 'heart attack-ette' at some point .. cuz' last year when i went to the 'butt-ologist' .. they had done some pre-exam pictures to make sure my heart was ticking cuz' they put you to sleep for the deep 'rotor-rooter' job! When i went for my results .. my hiney was all fine and shiney .. but he asked (rather casually i thought) .. "have you ever had a heart attack?" .. WELL .. if i hadn't .. i'm sure i did in the following ten seconds as i gasped "HUH??? WHY DO YOU ASK???" He said my x-rays had shown a 'blip' ... well skeeered the beee-jeeezuz outta' me i tell you! his nurse told me not to worry cuz' there are lots of 'false positives' .. but the hypochrondiac in me just wouldn't let the thought go .. (however, it DID take another YEAR for me to actually go for the heart test!!!) ... when we went to hear the results last week .. we had our darlin' LUCAS with us .. the doctor had my charts in his hot little hands and the first words he said were: "Well, Lucas .. you sure do come from strong, healthy stock!" Your grandomother's tests show she has a really strong heart just pumping the blood through .. with no signs of any blips (o.k. .. blips is MY word!).
I do have some little 'nodulettes' on my thyroid .. which was discovered a few weeks ago when my doc 'thought' he heard a blockage in my artery in my neck .. soooooooo .. he sent me for yet another x-ray! a teensy plaque in there .. but nothing to worry about ... BUT .. the nodules were noticed during that little procedure! I swear .. ef'fen it ain't one dang thing .. its 'nuther! Keep x-rayin' your parts and they are bound to find a little sumpthin' or other that don't belong!
Soooooooooo .. back to the x-ray machine for a thyroid x-ray. Doc sez he's not too worried about 'em (guess not .. they ain't in HIS neck!) Actually, he says they are rarely the "C" word .. but in the worse case scenario .. if they were .. he's never heard of anyone dyin' of 'em .. said he's had patients who had it there and they lived to be olde and died of other stuff long before that got 'em! AND .. he also said that if there was a room full of doctors and they were given their choice of a "C" to get .. they'd fight over havin' it in their thyroid!
I swear .. from now on .. when I go for x-rays .. i'm going to be blindfolded goin' in .. let 'em point the machine at me .. and shove me out the door before i take the blindfold off again! Don't you jus' watch the screen AND the faces of the person taking the x-ray???
Anyhoo .. he said he'll let my endocrinologist deal with this one .. but he didn't think it was anything serious! (from his lips to god's ear!)
well .. let's see .. what else have i been up to since visiting you gurlfrenz? oh .. i bought lotsa' plants .. but had to bring them all in cuz' of the cold snap we had .. then when i went to ohio .. i think hank forgot to water 'em .. sooo .. they are looking a little puny anyhoo. will try and get them in the earth before the weekend is over!
wednesday and family came down for easter and you coulda' knocked me to the floor with a feather when five year old lucas said he wanted to stay for the rest of his school vacation .. and you coulda' blown me into the next county when his mom and dad said that would be o.k. with them (wednesday still has inviisible... but oh so strong .. umbilical cords running from her to her babies!)
Lucas has attempted to spend the night with a friend two doors away from him .. and at midnight .. they met half-way cuz' he wanted his mom and dad! And again .. at his other grammie's house .. yep! the midnight call came and they had to go get him.
Frank said he was willing to drive back down from Toledo (a six to seven hour drive each way) .. if Lucas just couldn't make the whole week.
WELL .. he not only made the whole week .. he had a terrific time .. NEVER crying to go home! We had SUCH fun together! Frank said he was the talk of Toledo .. cuz' everyone knows he has never been away from his parents even for one night!
It was so precious when his dad met me at our antiques show in Ohio .. he came to the hotel door .. and Lucas just FLEW into his arms .. and Frankie was beaming from ear to ear .. then they got to 'raslin' and ticklin' and laughing .. it was precious to watch! gosh .. what a sweet family they are!
i adored being able to go back up there after the show to hug and squeeze on that little sofia and have my wonderful momma/daughter talks with my dear wednesday!
hank got really lonesome for me but he loves it when we (or i) have the chance to go visit them!
oh .. and yes, i did manage to hit a buncha' antiques shoppes goin' both ways and came home with a carload of treasures!
let's see .. what else has been happening? oh .. lots more work is being done on the cabins. the barn and the addition to the cabins is getting wooden strips (forget what they are called) between the boards .. so that 'critters' can't take up residence. the inside of the barn is all completed for hank's 'get-a-way' place. and they are going to finish off the second floor now. Just a few things left to do ..
FURRING STRIPS (i think they are called!)
want to repaint the side porch floor and get a different (heavier) door put on it . .then it's all finished. Still want to get some big huge stones and smooth out the front walkway. Want to do lots more landscaping (gardens) .. and lordy! get that 'schoolhouse' cleared out! Then .. i think we will be finished with all our 'home' projects! Luckily, we are having good friends (Kathy Sugarbucket) doing these since neither hank nor i are very good at building stuff!
I'm loving how the trees are all starting to 'bud' and love the spring days we do get every few days! Want to get those veggies and fleurs in the ground though without fear of freezing.
Well .. those dollies aren't getting sewn with my fingers on this keyboard .. sooo .. i'm offa' here for now .. but will check back in later this evening to see what ya'll have been up to lately.
