Last week dh & I watched the new program "Thank God you're Here" and thought it was kind of cute. We don't watch late night comedy or anything, so this was interesting to us. I had a chance to watch the episode last night and was, I'll admit, upset by what I saw. I didn't get to see the entire show, just the scenes where each girl was in a skit and the one at the end with all 4 "contestants". Maybe the men's skits weren't like this. Anyway, the first girl's skit was all about being drunk & pregnant at her wedding. The 2nd girl's skit was about educating kids to drink vodka and how fun it is to binge, etc. Her skit ended with her doing a very suggestive skit with a man and a banana.

Okay, you've got the point. Here's what bothers me. I'm no prude (at least I don't think so ), but these improv skits seemed to turn to sexual content very quickly. Here it was, on a show at 7-8 in the central time zone when families are watching tv, and it was pretty racy, I thought. And it didn't need to be. Each of these skits could have been done countless different ways, but the comediennes used the sex angle.

I guess it really bothers me that this seems to be okay. Sorry to vent here, but I've gotten so tired of occassionally wanting to relax with a television program or movie and being blasted either by profanity or sexual content during the so-call "family friendly" viewing hours and on network tv.

I have to agree, Patti. I watched the first show and was cautiously optimistic. I encouraged my husband to watch last night because "it was a cute show with improv comics." Well, halfway into the show, he looked at me like I had lost my senses. The comics set the tone of the show, and last night's was influenced by one particularly "aggressive" girl.

Two and a Half Men started out being a cute show with some subtle suggestive comments, but it has certainly gone downhill from the beginning.

I've tried to find a suitable exercise video for women my age...but they haven't made one called "Buns of Putty"

We also watched this the very first time it was on and thought it was pretty funny. The show on Monday night bothered me a bit, the skit with Jason Alexander, I thought some of his comments were a bit over the top. Last night dd (who is 19) watched it but she made the comment that they seemed to change the "feel" of the show and she thought it was a bit much! Ds who is 13 was at hockey practice with dh so I am glad he wasn't home to see it!! It is on at 8pm here and we won't be watching it again.

I didn't see the show, Patti, but I have seen the commercials and if I were home last night, I probably would have checked it out. Then I would have felt exactly the same way you do. Especially being in the time zone you are in I would write or make a phone call to the TV station and let them know how you feel.
And by the way, you don't have to be a prude to have good morals!!

Mima, we're in the same boat & get only 2 channels!! Until we moved last year, I had cable and watch more of the non-major channels -- lots of sports and Law & Order reruns -- when I watched TV at all. Now we only get two of the major networks, which I didn't watch before. I rarely watch now, to be quite honest, so I'm sure I don't see the whole picture of what's on. BUt when I do turn it on, I generally find myself really surprised at what they show and the language.

I do have to admit that I love the shows where they profile a crime or mystery. Some day when we can afford it, we'll get satellite, and then we can watch sports, the History Channel, DIY, and all those channels that I really miss.

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one that was disappointed by the show. I had heard so much about it & thought it would be good for me to broaden my horizons and watch some improv comedy. Well, I guess not!

I saw it too and was disaapointed. We had been looking forward to it and it wasn't funny at all, just way to sexual.(and I'm not that prude either!)We don't have cable so we only get 2 channels, but if I had small children still around I would be tempted to throw the t.v. out! (along with the computer.....)

Specially after not having T.V. for a while I've noticed it alot more when I do see it. My son is 5 now and starting to pay more attention to that stuff and wondering about it. I'm really glad we don't have it.
I missed it for a week or so, but now I get along just fine. The only time it's a pain not to have it is when things like the massacre happen and I didn't even know.
