I have been watching this story on the news. It is so sad and I am sure it is even more difficult for the people involved because the reasons for the shootings are not completely clear yet. I feel so badly for the families that lost children tonight.

I hope all our Farmgirl families are safe!

I'm renewing my commitment to be kind, too. Those poor students never knew what was going on. They say 33 have passed and 29 were injured. I'm sending prayers to our God to be with these families. Blessed be is right. Susan

I am just sick. This "school shooting" seems to be a trend all over the place. What on earth is the matter with all of us that our children are shooting each other?!?!?! I am sending prayers of peace and healing for everyone affected at all... And in my heart, I am renewing my commitment to be kind. Who knows what kindness might avert disaster...

XOXO, Libbie

I just cannot bring myself to read or watch anything about this. It is just so horrible. You wake up and go to school and then you are shot at. What a scary thing.

This is so very terrible, but, in light of the fact that, in the last hour, I've read 4 different headlines, with varying number of dead, and injured (all across the charts), I'm going to wait until tomorrow morning to listen to the news and hopefully by then, they will have a more concrete story and factual information.

I really do feel for these people. Every single one of them. It's a beautiful day here, and I'm watching a little chickadee out my window and I can't imagine what it must be like to be a parent of a student, or spouse of a professor, or simply someone working in administration--the fear and uncertainty now, and later, when noone will be spared from an emotional toll.

I am very sorry to hear about those at V Tech. I have friends that are alumni there and I am sure they will be very saddened to hear what has happened. My thoughts are with those families that are affected as well as those still on campus learning and teaching.

I live in Virginia, to say that it is "A dangerous place to live?"
That is toatally unfair
This can happen in any state of America
I have live here all my life and will continue to do so
This like this is happening everywhere in the United States.
And to say that hurts me and other people living here.
Any place can be dangerous. again this can happen any where.
What you said Aunt George is a hurting thing to all of us who live in Va. pinkroses
pinkroses Posted - Apr 16 2007 : 12:50:25 PM
I have to disagree with Va. being the most dangerous state to live in
It is no more dangerous than all of the other states.
Something like this can happen to anyone in any state.
Stating that Va. is the most dangerous state to live in is not fair at all.
I have lived here all my life and will continue too.
I find it a very safe place to live. Pinkroses.

With rights come responsibilities. I'm very sad that our society produces, however it produces, people who value life so little. It makes our kindnesses so much more important to share.

OMG....I'm am saddened beyond words. My heart is breaking for these families. I love Virginia, but am happy to be leaving this area. It is truly one of the most dangerous places to live in the USA. I'll turn on my TV...

So the bad guy was armed. And if campus security there was like it is here at my community college, the security people aren't allowed to carry guns any more. All those families whose lives are broken and will never be whole again.

Just talked to the mother of our babysitter (a Sr. at VT) and she is OK. I guess most of the dead were in the engineering building. She is still on lockdown in her dorm and using her cell phone and computer to get info.

My heart is breaking for these young people.

I live in Roanoke Va. Maybe about an hour and half's drive from there
ON the local news in Roanoke they had a guy that had his cell phone on and taped it as it was happening.
I feel so bad for the victims and the families.
I pray that God will comfort them on the horrible day.
And heal those that were injured.
Va. Tech. is usually a very peacefull place .
Things like this is so hard to understand. Pinkroses..

32 are dead and 28 injured. This is all over the radio stations here. I graduated HS c/o 2000. So I still have a lot of friends that went to VA Tech at some point. This is terrible. My husband has a pistol, and if the shooter really used a 'handgun' they only hold 10-14 bullets. They said he was wearing a vest with several clips on it, reloading and just shooting into closed classroom doors. I only live about 2 hours from there, and Its so scary to think that these sickos are sneaking around practically in our backyards.

What is this world coming to!?!?
pray!

Apparently the death toll has gone up to 32. The gunman had chained the buildings doors and then was shooting into each of the classrooms. He used two 9 mm handguns. He shot himself.

Oh,. that' s just awful. Gen 6:5 The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

This is hard to even comprehend. He used a handgun and shot over 40 people? Where did he stop and reload? Wouldn't he have to re-load more than once?

Apparently some of the injured were injured jumping out of the 4th story window to flee the gunman. Mom live in VA and saw that on the local news.

They were saying he had a handgun and that he lined people up and shot them????? What's the deal? Was no one able to throw a desk at him and hit him or anything??? Was there no one with any kind of military training or background? I just cannot believe that TWENTY-TWO people are dead and TWENTY-ONE injured. This is madness. Just madness. I am so sad for this situation and for Virginia. That would be a parent's nightmare. It's heart-breaking.
