Can't believe it, seems like yesterday we brought her home. Time just keeps flying by. We are blessed and I know we have to give her wings soon but I'll take every minute I get.

I just got Bean Blossom Dreams off of www.bookmooch.com today! I'm really looking forward to reading it.

And for all the moms on here who have daughters that are getting older, have you thought about doing something special like putting together a hope chest for one of the "big" birthdays (16, 18)? I think the hope chest tradition should be revived-- good not only for girls going off to be married (as they originally started out for) but also great for girls going out on their own to college or their own apartments. It's a chance to pass on some farmgirl heirlooms and give them a head start.

I just read a book thats been around sine 1994 and I loved it, it's called Bean Blossom Dreams by SallyAnn J. Murphey. It is about the first two years of life on their farm & all the trials, tribulations & wonderful things that happens. They had a small daughter & wanted her to grow up in the country not the city any longer. I was curious to know how life is now & if they still have the farm so I googled it. She has a blog telling how it's been 15 years & they are still there but their reason for moving to the country just went off to college! She also states how different it is now because for decades your a parent first and everything else is second and I thought of my own daughter growing up and how I'll feel when she leaves because it's true, were parents first & everything else second and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Happy Birth Day to you, Michele!
I can just imagine how full of emotion your heart is today.
I think for all of us Mothers, our children's Birthdays are just loaded with Memories with a capital M! The day we give birth to our baby is a day like no other....... no matter how many children we have. And in spite of all of that incredible amount of hard work & deep spiritual growth we live through as we raise our children, it seems over in a heartbeat. Remember when all you wanted was to sleep through the night - heck, just sleep 6 hours? And then suddenly they are too tall, too big, to pick up & hold in your arms anymore.
So take out those Baby pictures, Michele, & savor for a moment the history of the past 16 years....... and relish every moment. We are only meant to hold them for a little while - but so much lives in our hearts forever.
And there are still many adventures and wondrous times ahead.
Blessings on you & your dd today!

It must be so hard to see your babies growing up so fast- and wonderful at the same time. As I am sure you know, I just became a mom a few weeks ago and already I can see changes in her! I already miss some of those brand-new newborn moments but I look forward to the moments to come. So I guess this feeling never goes away? Missing the old moments, enjoying the current, and looking forward to the ones to come?

Take every second, as all too soon, they grow their own wings, and fly away.
.....the good news is, they come back. Mine did !
Hard to believe that they grow sooooo fast.
