My ears are ringing and I've been having a slight headache for a couple of weeks now. So this AM, Gary and I got up and both felt strange. We took our BP with a cuff and both of us were sky-high. So we hustled to the doctor. He did EKG's, blood work and then poked and prodded all over.

We left with prescriptions and hopefully our BP will come down. But I just wanted to remind everyone to keep an eye on the ol' BP!!

Winona :-)

I am Diabetic. My blood pressure would go up and down and sometimes below normal
This past fall however it kept going up. and would stay up.
So, my family doctor put me on high blood pressure.
My husband has it too.
I feel like a walking mecdine chess with all my meds. Ha.Pinkroses.

Oh, yes, please watch your blood pressure!

Just a little FYI, I'm sure everyone knows this, but the nurse in me just can't help it:

The top number (systolic) is the pressure exerted on the blood vessels when the heart is in full contraction and forcing the blood out of the heart. The bottom number (diastolic) is the pressure exerted on the blood vessels when the heart is at rest (refilling). So when that bottom number is over 90 consistently, it could mean that you are losing the elasticity of your blood vessels for some reason, so the heart has to work harder to force the blood through your veins and arteries. There are so many different things that can cause this for example: stress, increased cholesterol, arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis, damaged vessels from diabetes....like I said so many different reasons....so get to your MD to have it checked out and medication to assist your body to do it's job. Hypertension (high blood pressure) truly is the silent killer. OK, off of my soapbox. LOL I'm so glad that ya'll recognized the warning signals and went to the MD!!

Here is an excellent educational site: http://www.webmd.com/hypertension-high-blood-pressure/tc/High-Blood-Pressure-Hypertension-Symptoms

Have a great day!!

Winona, my BP was sky high a couple weeks ago, too! 140/100, when I'm normally a 120/70. No clue why. It did go back down on it's own, though. I also had the EKG, and they sent me home with a heart monitor...dang, those things are a pain!
