Well good morning to you all ... Hubby and I woke to 27` degrees of Brrrr and cloudy temps.. unfortunately the weather peeps didn't say it would get down below 33`... All I can say is I do not look forward to seeing the damage to my garden. :(

Just might be a 2nd cup of coffee morning :)

I’m so sorry Grace. We will be getting that cold here on Monday so I’m working on clearing it all out of my garden. I don’t have much left anyway. I even spotted some of my neighbors chickens in my garden yesterday so they are helping to clear it out. Enjoy spending more time in the craft room!

Well between the wind gusts and the freezing nights, the beautiful fall leaves are now carpeting the front porch rather than dressing the trees. Boo Hoo Fall is gone. But Woo Hoo Winter is around the corner. Doesn't Daylight Savings Time end soon? Then we start our voyage back into winter's darkness. However that means more studio time, reading by a toasty fire with Louise kitty in my lap, watching the landscape turn into snowy Grandma Moses postcard scenes, and delicious soups and other yummy comfort foods, sipping those Irish Coffees . . .. life is good. . . .

Winnie, I can justify a nip of brandy or a single malt Irish whiskey anytime, season or place. lol

Grace, what a shame that freeze blasted your garden! Gosh, we are still in the thick of heat and humidity and endless Summer. I would gladly take a bit of cold weather!! Sara, can a person justify a nip of brandy or good whisky in their coffee even if they are still having Summer? I do love Irish Coffee in the colder nights we can get sometimes by Christmas or early January.

Grace, I am so sorry for the loss of your garden. You are a true gardener because you rescue what you can and leave the rest for deer and other critters. Enjoy crafting and a nip of brandy in your coffee or coco won't hurt.

Well, about 1/2 my garden froze... so I am leaving the gate open for the deer to rummage through...
So everything will be cleaned up and go into the compost..
I did manage to pick a few stems of Basil and mint and had put them in water,, hopefully they'll root.. if not, oh well...

Now I can spend more time in my messy craft room...

I would love to have some 80s -- my favorite temperature zone. It appears that we are going from 90s to 70s. We had 90s last week and now nothing but 70s in our future except for 68 tomorrow. But it means heat and rattlesnake season will be over and I can go hiking again.

I would really appreciate some good thoughts for DH tomorrow. He is having an angiogram and probable angioplasty. We're hoping that is all.

Yep. We got zapped over here 100 miles east of you in northern Idaho too. And the weather guy we watch said we had the possibility of snow next week!!!! Say what ??? Fired up the wood stove last night -- first time this season. Sure felt nice and toasty. Winter's on the way . . . I did manage to pick up some of this years beautiful maple leaves and have them in the book press.
But for today I'm processing this year's garlic crop. Will peel and chop it and store covered in olive oil. Should have about 80 cloves too for DH to plant and enough to process to last until next year's harvest in June. I'm excited to have some Butters Softneck to plant this year. I love making garlic braids but haven't been able to get any softneck here in Idaho to plant for the last few years. What can I say . . . Italian, ya know . . . LOL.

That is cold this early in the season. Hopefully there won't be too much damage. My cymbidium orchids can take it down to 27 so maybe your garden will be ok too. We had 46 last night and it felt so good to sleep in cooler weather.

BTW, I seem to be having issues with my phone and accessing the MJF forum,,
I can't post photos without getting an error message and about every 2-3 post also produces
An error message. It could be my security setting, my phone or...
But it started the same day that Facebook went kapluy...
In the mean time I will try to hunt down a teenager (haha) to figure out the problem..
