Posted - Jul 19 2018 : 12:45:02 PM Hi everyone!
My older son, Joe, is getting married August 11th! He'll be 30 years old on Aug 29th, my how time flies! My husband and I already got them both a wedding gift, but I wanted to give him something special, just from me, but I don't know what to get. Any ideas?
Thanks Connie

Posted - Jul 26 2018 : 7:56:48 PM Hi Connie, Sons are sooooooo very special, I have two myself! I'm going to ramble, but wanted to share a few ideas: I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scrapbook ideas and photo album with poetry, too special! Any and all those little moments between mother and son are so very special! Some Ideas: use the photo album pockets to insert or include "other" items that may capture special memories, doesn't have to be only photos. Could almost go along the lines of a pocket letter? Each pocket holds something special and different, letters, momentos, a special coin or family little keepsake, things from his childhood that you may still have. You could also make the photo album a family history album of sorts. Include copies of birth certificates, copies of letters written by family members, etc to personalize it. Reach out to closest family members and request they write him a letter for his wedding day and return it to you and enclose all the letters tied with a ribbon in a special box or container for him to read after his wedding (although that is not personal from you, still special in my opinion, you can also do this with family recipes, have both sides of the family participate and send recipes to you with notes added as to why that recipe was special or share a specific family memory about the recipe). I also love the idea of a special cuff links. You can search Etsy and find something that represents "sunshine" or have them engraved (one with his intials, one with yours) A dog tag necklace with a special engraving. Have fun and enjoy his wedding day and your new daughter in law. Best Wishes to your family!

Posted - Jul 23 2018 : 2:03:41 PM Krista, ever since my older son Joe was a baby, I use to sing 'you are my sunshine'. I found a photo album with that saying on the front! So I thought I'd get that and fill it with his childhood pictures. I've also written poetry for him when he was little, which I thought I'd include.

Posted - Jul 20 2018 : 2:28:39 PM How about a husband to be kit? You could include some important tools that he would need for around the house, a set of your recipes that were his favorites as a child, a handmade keepsake item, a personal letter from you, a gift card for him to take his new wife on a date, or even just some basic every day items that he may forget to purchase like shampoo and deodorant.
