Posted - Jun 22 2018 : 04:27:54 AM We have seen twice now a mama turkey with four or five baby pullets. She’s been in our driveway twice now. The thing is, mama turkey walks with a horrible limp. She limps off as soon as we see her, but I hope she is going to be okay...also saw a fox last night next to the camper.
Anyway she is so sweet. I will try to snap a photo next time. I love this time of year when I see baby birds.

Posted - Jun 28 2018 : 06:48:10 AM Oh Grace! Those sparrows can be so brutal! I have a birdhouse hanging off the porch. Underneath are two rockers. We had a beautiful bluebird we called “Mama Bird” move in. She would perch outside and sing. She never seemed to mind us at all. One morning, she was dead on my porch. Her eggs were smashed and the babies that had been born killed. We found out it was sparrows. We think Mama died defending her brood. That was years ago but it still makes me sad to think about. I know it is nature but sometimes nature is soooo brutal.
You can cut down on sparrows by the type of seed you put out if you use bird feeders, I was told. Not sure if that is true or not.

Posted - Jun 23 2018 : 7:57:47 PM Hopefully she and her babies will stay safe. Unfortunately, our hearts break for sweet innocent creatures... but, it is Nature... I just recently learned what/who was taking over our Bluebird nests and killing the hatchlings and blue birds.. believe it or not,, Sparrows! I even witnessed a couple of sparrows go after a blue bird.. so I chased them off.. who would have thought,, so I Googled it and Yep,, those sweet lil sparrows can be quit vicious... sadly, that's wild life/nature. :>(

Posted - Jun 23 2018 : 09:35:46 AM I hate to see things like this happening!! Hopefully, she can raise her brood to safely fend for themselves and find other birds to be with.
