Who is your oldest or best friend???
As some of you may recall, I am 1/2 German and 1/2 American... my mother (German)married my dad (American)and when I was 3 they brought me to the USA... Mother got her Citizenship and I became a Naturalized US Citizen.
My mother and I would travel back and forth from the USA to Germany to be with family between Daddy's deployments to Germany.
In 1966 mother, my sister and I went back to Germany and waited for Daddy to get stations back in Germany,,, so we lived with my grandparents (Wolf family)who lived next door to the Fritz family, and when I was 10 I met Irmgard Fritz,,, and from that time on we have been life long best friends. We were like sisters,,, in fact to this day we sign off with 'sister love'...
We share so many memories, some happy some heart breaking,,, but through it all,, we are 'sisters'....

Irmgard on the left.. in Germany.

Who is your oldest and or dearest friend....

That is so cool Krista, to have been friends for that long and to still be in touch. My best friend and I lost touch in those middle years and although we reconnected, it's just not the same. Cherish that friendship!

Deborah, I am so sorry for your lost.

I met my best friend when I was just a baby. Her family moved in behind us when I was only 4 months old. We have been best friends since. We would always just jump the fence to get to each other's house. Our parents even removed slats from the fence so we could sit and talk with each other thru the fence. Now many years down the road we still get together. We were pregnant at the same time, she had twin girls and I had a boy. Now with my second boy we joke around about them growing up and getting married! It's crazy to go full circle and see our babies playing with each other like we did at their age!

Sorry Deborah for the lost but I agree with you. She is in a wonderful place.

Dawn...really? You're the "other one"? You are definately not a slacker in the looks dept. I think you wear it very well.

My best friend also happens to be my first cousin. She's our own Windy Pines! Even though Michele lives in northwestern WI and I'm west of Chicago, we've stayed in touch on a almost daily basis. This picture was taken when Michele and her husband came down for a quick weekend at the beginning of November. My youngest son is also in the picture with us. Michele is the lovely tall brunette, I'm the other one.

I am very thankful and grateful for our friendship, being cousins too just happens to be an extra bonus.

OMStars!!!
I have a love/hate relationship with fb.... but I will say, fb has made it so easy to find dear old friends....
And sadly via fb I have learned of dear old school friends who have passed away...
I am actually searching for a few special friends from when I was growing up on Military bases....hopefully some day I will find them.

I had a best friend through school that we lost touch after high school graduation. We took different paths, I was dating my husband and she went off to college and Europe, but reconnected a few years ago thanks to Facebook.

I have had several best friends, and have lost or lost touch with several of them. My best friend in high school was Jeanne - but through the years we have not been in touch as often as we'd like. Last year, due to our 50 year high school reunion, we reconnected through FB, but not in person yet.
My sister and I, like Grace, are 8 years apart, so are on completely different wave lengths. And, she is in California and I am in Texas, so not as close as we'd like.
My cousin Carol was my bestest friend, and from 2005, when my mother passed away, until her passing in 2013, we chatted on the phone or on line every day at least once. I miss her every day.
I have several dear farmgirl friends from MJF and feel like we have so much in common that I feel we are sisters from other mothers. I am thankful every day to have met them here.

She lets me win 1% so I will still want to play the game with her. Hope some day to be like the Aunts in the movie Practical Magic. Having a house by the sea or a large lake, drink tea, play backgammon and chess, be eccentric and freak out our neighbors. I would be Aunt Jet (Diane West). Trish is definately an Aunt Frances kinda gal, (Stockard Channing).

This is me and my BFF Trish. We met when I was in high school. Seen great times, sad time and rough times but mostly great. I can talk with her about anything. I call her my sister friend. Thanks for letting me share about her. The only thing that bugs me about her is she beats me at Backgammon 99% of the time.

P.s. this photo was taken a while ago. I wish I was still that thin.

Probably my sister. The one I tell all to, and love the most

My Longest Friend is from Spokane and we met in Jr. High and I have another one from
Spokane that I met in 6th grade in my Neighborhood. The first person helped lead me to
the Lord when I was 21...so, she will always hold a special place in my heart for that reason. The next gal from 6th grade I lost touch with for years when I moved away from
Spokane but because of the Internet we found each other once again and communicate on
Facebook. We were both surprised to find that we had grown up polar opposites in the
Political Realm. She is extremely Liberal and I am more Conservative...which is not always a good mix for a close friendship. But makes life interesting that is for sure.

Hugs and Smiles,
Peggy

I still keep in touch with my first best friend from kindergarten. We see each other anytime we go back home for a visit. We went all through high school together, all the experiences of growing up.
When I married we were in the military but saw her whenever I could get back home. Kept in touch all through the years.
