I haven't put up my tree for the past three years because I believe my very active cat would undecorate it. And, we went to my daughter's for Christmas this year. No Christmas events at our house this year. I did decorate but more simply and will be putting things away here before too long. I'm in no hurry. My daughter, who is a teacher, leaves hers up until Martin Luther King Day which is her usual undecorate day.

We haven't used a live tree in the house for years. We do have two artificial ones we use and then enjoy our very large (30 ft. tall) real live Colorado Blue Spruce trees in the yard. We have two like that and one a bit smaller. The big ones are WAY TOO BIG to decorate but they look lovely with snow on their branches!

Nancy, now that my girls are grown and only here a few days around Christmas, once they leave, I am ready to take down the decorations too. Plus, this year, it has been mostly in the 70s and low 80s everyday and it felt more like October than December! LOL!! Once my daughter left on the 26th, I began to take everything down too. My tree is still up but it will come down this weekend as the warm weather has completely dried it all out.

Rebecca, I am sorry the live tree was making your allergies nuts! My brother and his wife had to give up live trees decades ago and use an artificial one to avoid the same problem you had.

Nancy,
I also take my tree down early. This year we had to remove it really early. It was making me sick. So we celebrated Christmas on Friday and took the tree down that night and put it outside.
