Posted - Dec 21 2016 : 09:24:47 AM Haven't had these for quite a while--I am truly having a "Blue" Christmas...Trying to keep busy-housekeeping, wrapping presents-the tree is up and WPNE Christmas music playing and it's snowing big fat flakes right now---hopefully, as Christmas draws near my mood will be lifted.
Hoping everyone on our forum is enjoying the Holiday spirit....
Merry Christmas ladies----

Posted - Dec 22 2016 : 8:20:19 PM We are going to have a full house this weekend and I've been stressing about getting the house spic and span....when I mentioned the chores that 'needed' to get done he looked at me and said. "So, you wipe down the toilet-and sweep...that's all you need to do" MEN. It made me smile tho-

Posted - Dec 22 2016 : 8:13:12 PM Melody, I think the Christmas season gives everyone mixed feelings. We are stressed and trying to get too much done too fast. Then boom! The holiday is over and it is a let-down. That's when I get the blues. If you have an arboretum, conservatory or flower shop nearby, visit and soak in the color and smells. It will lift your spirit. Reach out to others in need and that will make you feel better too. God bless you.

Posted - Dec 22 2016 : 08:08:41 AM I have had problems with this also. What I do is stay outside as much as possible in the summer to soak up as much sunshine as I can. This seems to last me through most of the winter. I also get out into the sun during the winter when I can.

Posted - Dec 22 2016 : 08:01:19 AM Melody, I certainly understand . . . the health challenges I've been dealing with the past four Christmases make it difficult. I never used to be sensitive to cold so much but last year and, so far, this year . . . I think I'm going to freeze to death! There are other issues as well that I struggle with. We plan to go to my daughter's in Phoenix for Christmas . . . looking forward to time with her. We don't have lack of sunshine issues here so it's not so much going to AZ for sunshine, but more for time with my daughter and a change of scenery . . and break from the cold! Hang in there!
TO ALL OF YOU . . . LET'S HANG IN THERE!! CJ

Posted - Dec 22 2016 : 05:47:57 AM Melody and Peggy - so sorry you are feeling so blue this Christmas season. I am not decorating as much this year - but do have some decorations up and 2 trees. Doing a lot of Christmas sewing for gifts and such, so that helps cheer me up.
Hugs and prayers for you both.

Posted - Dec 21 2016 : 9:39:17 PM Oh, Melody - I am so sorry that you are going through this. And you, too, Peggy. I feel badly for anyone who suffers with this. I will keep you in my prayers. May The Light of the season fill your heart with joy!
Melody - I did read where vitamin D can be taken once a week or even once every two weeks due to its half life... How is that working for you? Where we live, we get lots of rain and many gray days - very similar to Seattle, so I take it daily. Just wondering if you see any difference taking it once a week versus daily. I hope you find it's helping. It really does me a world of good! :)
Peggy - I just emailed you with some important information that may help with your husband. As you know, I am in the same boat. Please email me if you do not receive it. I really think it might be helpful.
Much love and big hugs to both of you -
Nini

Posted - Dec 21 2016 : 2:35:55 PM Melody, my daughter has been having the same. Said she can't seem to get out of it and get the Christmas spirit going on. I usually have trouble around January but I think mine is due to my mom's birthday being then and she has been gone for 4 yrs now.

Posted - Dec 21 2016 : 12:12:28 PM Melody...I am having a Very Blue Christmas also! Which rarely ever happens to me as I Love Christmas. But my Husband is in Heart Failure, and brain and Cognitive Issues and He is angry and mean and so Not the Man I married 32 years ago. He once had a Wonderful Sense of Humor and was so loving and giving and treated me like a Queen...but now all we do is clash. I don't know if he has 2 days or 2 years left but I don't want to spend it this way. It is so difficult. But anyway...just saying I understand The Blue Blue Christmas...I'm so there.
Love and Hugs, Peggy

Posted - Dec 21 2016 : 11:26:28 AM Grace...I'm on mega prescription vit d once a week--been about 3 months of this as my level is in the tank and very, very slowly it's creeping up. Multi-vitamins might be a help-I'll have to get some.
Thank you for your advice--I appreciate it!

Posted - Dec 21 2016 : 11:14:35 AM Melody,,, I suffered from "SADs" when I lived in Spokane, WA... not uncommon for people in areas where the season goes a tad to long with out sunshine... which lowers our system of getting natural Vitemin D from the sunshine... My doctor recommended I take vite-D supplements and it did help... I even had friends who would visit their local Tanning Parlour and lay in the tanning beds( many had special Vite-D beds) for a bit to make their mental mood lift up... Here in the mountains I am having the same issue,,, due to the lack of sunshine and to many over cast days... yep,,, daily Vite_D along w/my multi-vitamin... Hang in there girlie,,, and Merry Christmas...

Posted - Dec 21 2016 : 09:44:55 AM Hi Melody I live in So Cal. It is either wet or dry but mostly dry. Like for years. Each day looks the same here. I guess I shouldn't be whining though.
Hope you feel better soon. Christmas cheers
