Posted - Oct 22 2016 : 07:34:03 AM I didn't dry them, my aunt gave them to me. But I would like to get some and make a wreath. I know where there is a bush, do I just remove the ones that are done and they are considered dry? Posted a picture of the ones I have.

Posted - Oct 23 2016 : 12:28:45 PM I love hydrangeas too and used to dry them at my old house. Word of caution though, don't let them get too close to a candle. We had friends for dinner one evening when one of our guests commented that my centerpiece was smoking. Fortunately I pulled it away from the candles before we had a fire in the middle of our dining room table!
Enjoy yours, Dawn in IL

Posted - Oct 22 2016 : 08:18:46 AM Nancy if the dried ones on the bush are in good shape use those. If they are almost dry go ahead and cut them and finish inside. If they are raggedy and there are still good ones I would dry those. I have not dried hydrangeas but I do dry sunflowers. Cut to desire length - either put wire over a box and stand the hydrangea in it or put a flower frog in a tall vase and use that. Dry away from direct sunlight in a dry place with good venation. After drying sunflowers I spray them with hairspray before adding to arrangement.
