Took a few 'snaps' of Hildegard ----AKA "The Shoe Thief" today....

She weighs close to 50-pounds now at only 7-months. She can be a real pistol and needs constant supervision. I know she's smart, but her obedience can be very trying. I have to keep reminding myself she is still very young and consistency and a firm hand is in order. Just wish she would learn to keep away from the shoe bin!

All of the above comments are all wonderful examples of why we have and love these four legged family members. They may not be perfect, but they sure are great company and entertaining to watch!

Sometimes when I scold Annie she takes to her bed. I guess she gives herself a timeout.

What a beauty she is Mel. I don't know how you can ever get mad at that face.

Melody...I think she should be called "Queenie"...that is what she looks like...so regal!
I had a small Retriever at one time and he ate everything, shoes, belts, yarn, money, false teeth,
you name it and if he could reach it he ate it. I'm sorry to say...he never out crew it. He was
six when he ate my husbands $ 2 Twenty Dollar bills sitting on my hubby's desk. The False Teeth
were my husbands too and he took those off the bathroom counter. He always did those things for
attention. Good Luck with Hildy...maybe you will be a lucky one and she will out grow those naughty
traits. LOL

Hugs and Smiles,
Peggy

Oh Melody! She is adorable and growing up so fast!! I could just cuddle with her! Hopefully she will grow out of her shoe phase soon.

Sara, I have a Great Dane and I would say majority of her puppy phase ended around 2-3 years old. Now she is almost 6 and still has more energy than I could ever imagine but is also a very calm lazy dog! She mainly burns her energy running laps outside and playing with her sisters and then comes inside to sleep!

Melody, Annie doesn't sit beside me ~ she wants to sit in my lap so I let for a little bit then I make her get down. She will leave my side and go out to play or take a nap. My niece who has raised Great Danes said they are puppies until two years old.

I have forgotten what besides yellow lab Hildegard is. Annie is looking more and more like a fawn Great Dane but may be mixed with yellow lab. At the animal shelter I was told she was yellow lab English mastiff mix.

My mother-in-law had a theory...you always had to have two of everything, so they could keep each other company and balanced. She lived her life that way, as well as I and now my girls also follow that way of thinking. I think Hildegard needs a friend...and you are it!

It's exhausting. She NEVER leaves my side. Sometimes, I sit quietly every so often (and she is there.... right next to my hip) just so that she can get a little break--.

I think her photos project a certain REGAL air! She is definitely the Queen around here.

Hildegard is beautiful and looks regal.

She's the same weight as my Annie when she was that age - she's now 8 months old. Because of her size I have to remind myself that she is just a puppy and not to expect her to act like a grown dog. Shoes aren't her problem. It's jumping on people when she gets excited.

Oh my goodness, Hildegard is such a cutie! If Hildegard is anything like my daughters 3 year old and new addition of a 1 year old puppies, it will be at least another year before Hildegard outgrows the shoe thief and destruction. Hang in there as dogs are so worth it!
