Oh My! as DH and I headed home today we spotted a yard sale and hubby asked if I wanted to snoop,,, Well YA!!!
Saw a few things but nothing I couldn't live with out,, when all of a sudden,, tucked under a bunch of other stuff I noticed a plastic box with ruffles... and to my joy I found it full of hankies...
I asked the guy how much and he said "I'll give ya a $1 to take 'em".. I replied No, but I will buy them,,, so he said, "$1, final offer"... I said You betcha!
So as I got home, I washed them and now they are drying out on the lawn... I can hardly wait to iron them with a lavender water spritz.

there was a lace ruffle detachable collar in amongst the hankies as well.

I can hardly wait to iron these bits of sweetness...

So glad hubby suggested I do a lil snoppin'...

I have never seen these adorable uses for hankies but they must have made many a young girl very excited to receive one!

Grace -

I never had one or got one, but I've seen several. Love the one in your picture.

You can print off the doll part of those on several websites, I think. I'd have to figure out how to fold the hankie so all 4 corners are at the bottom like that.

I almost started a Hankie Doll Swap Over The Summer but was too busy. Would you join in Gracie if I did
one? I think it would be fun. You can use paper dolls or just a vintage Card & Hankie like they did in this one.

How nice Kat, the old vintage hankies are so pretty. I remember when I was little all the women had a hankie in their purse., even me when I went to Sunday School.

only 2 were slightly tattered, a couple had mild staining but the rest are in great shape...

And now that they have been spritzed with lavender water and ironed,,, they are ready to be tucked into the hankie chest,,, problem is,,, I pull out and refold many of my hankies in search of the 'right one' to tuck into my handbag... this can take hours... better make myself a pot of tea and put on some lovely music.... ahhh sigh....

I agree with Peggy! It's funny how certain things mean absolutely nothing to some people that they will pay others to take them off their hands when really they are such amazing treasures! Great find Grace!

Gracie...what a find!! Woot! Woot! So Pretty!!! I like how he was going to pay you to take them. LOL
And then sells them to you for a dollar. Great Day for YOU! And Kudos for DH for suggesting it.

Lucky you@ it's been a while but I have been able to find some treasures for not much money at thrift stores. However, I don't NEED any more hankies!
I use them to decorate my house as well. I have some from my oldest brother's first wife, (she passed away in 2003) and some from my mother-in-law (she passed away in 2013). I've used some of those to hang with mini clothespin in ribbon that is strung across over the clothes closet in our bedroom where I can see them. I have only ONE that was my mom's and it is in a little crochet purse with silk flowers that is hanging on the wall over my paper quilling pieces.

Wow! What a great find.Yes, I always had a hanky in my purse. I just ironed my old hankies and put them in a tray so they could be enjoyed for their beauty instead of hidden away.

Grace that's quite a find. Up into my twenties I tucked a pretty little hankie into my Sunday going to meeting purse.
