After 4 coats of paint-and 4 coats of poly this portion of the floor is DONE and it is baaaa youtiful! I have to wait until every thing is good and dry then we can move the beast (Una-my rag rug loom) over so the rest of the floor can be finished. Already, excited about doing the big landing. I think that will go a bit faster now that I have the rhythm down and the weather is cooperating. I'm on a roll!

Now that the 2nd landing is complete diamonds and all...I started the loom room floor in a solid white--Won't it look 'sweet' with my colorful rag rugs scattered in in front of my tables and bench? I had to leave the loom in the corner--too blasted heavy---then after 3 good coats of clear/poly/acrylic finish it should hold up nicely--when that is good and dry I can move the loom to finish up the rest of the floor.

When Bruce is in Germany in two weeks I will tackle the BIG landing doing that in white as well.

What do you think??

LOTS of work---but such a joy to see what is transpiring. I have an image in my head of having a grouping of my handwoven rag rugs gracing the new/old floors-It's coming together. I'm a patient woman so I am taking my time.

My thoughts are turning towards the BIG landing and how that will turn out. I think that will be it for the floor painting though-I want the three remaining rooms-the library/master and guest- redone-re-stained and poly'd to a nice satin sheen. The areas that I have done and will do are at the center of the upstairs and this will keep it symmetrical.

Thank you for all the nice compliments! It helps me move forward.....

Wow what a change! I give you props for going white! That floor would not stay white in my house with 3 dogs, 2 boys, and a husband! Enjoy your bright new room!

It's just the two of us now....and Hildegarde. A sound poly finish will make or break the floor---Satin finish easy to clean--over GOOD Latex porch paint.... and I have very little traffic in the loom room. I just have to make sure I have felt 'footies' on everything and remember not to drag a piece of furniture. ANYTHING is an improvement over what has been there for 100 years.

Melody, your house renovations continue to be exciting. How wonderful to have an old house to work with and make your own!
