Posted - Jul 22 2016 : 09:00:51 AM I am challenging myself to be extremely frugal until Christmas. Part of this is I am still in college and won't be working full time for another year. The other is I really like a challenge. My goal is to save $1000 by December 25th, reduce the amount of stuff in my house to simplify my life, find alternatives to the products I use, or replace only with used or homemade, where I can. Just being more conscious of our spending.
So far, it's been a month, I have used up a lot of items in my bathroom and kitchen. I do have a credit of $50 at Ulta, my downfall for all things pretty smelling in beautiful packaging. I have until January to use it, so I am going to use it for Christmas shopping.
I like my life to be comfortable and I am at a point where I can buy those things that just a few yeas ago, I only dreamed about. So it's about finding balance.
What are y'all doing?

Posted - Jul 27 2016 : 09:29:00 AM My financial planner recently showed me the two-account method of personal finance- where you have one account for needs and one account for fun. I'm thinking of trying it because my current system of just having one account has been not working for me and I'm trying to save money to buy our house.

Posted - Jul 26 2016 : 10:35:57 AM I have yet been able to make it to the farmers market. I am hoping for a chance to make it this week. I am wanting to make some salsa! Since the last time I wrote here I decided I would try and find a way to make most of my Christmas gifts for people and I'll start now to ensure they are done in time! I like the idea of new OLD furniture! Hopefully you can find the perfect furniture for your house!

Posted - Jul 23 2016 : 10:36:12 AM We are also shopping local this year and we will continue to do so.No more online shopping, unless I cannot absolutely not find it, then I probably don't need it. Even the local stores carry the Lego's my son so loves. I already told my hubby I want some new OLD furniture for the house for Christmas.
Went to the Farmer's Market today and spent only $35 and I now have a week's worth of vegetables.

Posted - Jul 22 2016 : 10:36:04 AM I'm not so much saving for Christmas as we are saving for our second baby due the end of November. My extra cash is being saved to buy us a new car seat as well as pay off some other bills. I have been trying hard to find ways to repurpose what we have and make things rather than buy them! I have also been trying to use less water and power to help lower our utilities. I can't wait to see what everyone else is doing. Maybe I'll get some ideas!
