My parents bought the farm I grew up on before I was born and there were 240 acres, about 5 miles from town. At that time there were only two neighbors. Of course things have changed dramatically and there are many, many more houses in the area and after my parents passed away we, my five siblings and I, decided none of us REALLY wanted to farm the whole farm.

The last neighbor was still living and still farming, a women who was about the same age as my dad and about as ornery! She is no longer living but her daughter and son-in-law have a house near where hers is (now owned by and occupied by a man in his 50s)

While my hubby and I were helping the daughter and SIL with feeding their horses one day early this spring we walked past the old barns and sheds. I spotted this old tractor that has been sitting there for a very long time, as its wheels are partially buried in the ground. Thought I'd snap a photo of it . . . just reminds me of how it used to be in the neighborhood!

Thanks girls! I love these old tractors and implements I have an old corn planter that decorates my yard I quickly latched on to it from our farm when we were having an auction after my parents were gone. I'll try to post a pic sometime!

Wonderful photo! We used to have so many farms around here, but one by one they have almost all disappeared. It's rare to see something like this now. Thanks for sharing it!

Hugs and Happy Day!

Thanks Gracie . . . I try to take good photos. Have done a lot of them, I especially like outdoor stuff, etc. I've even sold a few!
Just this morning I'm digging out some beach photos I took and matted and framed to display. I've changed my living room décor to beachy with a lot of seashells, etc.

Yes, it is great yard art. Unfortunately this neighbor's farm is in a valley over the hill that isn't visible to anyone but those who live there!

I don't know what make this tractor is, could be Allis Chalmers, because they were orange.
But I do know my dad was most definitely an Allis Chalmers farmer. They were the ones he bought and when he passed away there were three different ones for us to sell. One was set up for pruning his fruit trees, one was set up for mowing grass and spraying in the orchard and the big one was his "big boy" for plowing and other heavier field work.
