I think there are forces against some of us farmgirls!! I came home from shopping today to find that we have NO HOT WATER! Now, this would not really be a problem except that I had left all of the dishes from breakfast and lunch sitting in the sink (never again!) and had to heat up a couple of pans of water for washing and rinsing. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. The plumber is coming tomorrow to install a new water heater as ours apparently gave up the ghost sometime during the day. Oh well, it's better than my parent's furnace giving out yesterday!! Yikes! 2007 is getting off to a rocky start!

We lost our electricity a few days ago (in only half of the house, so it's not the electric line) and our dishwasher died a few months ago, so we went and got a new one. But while installing it, the pipes in the kitchen sink fell apart and died. So now we are doing plumbing repairs too.

Time was I was young and we lived in a 4 room cabin with no in door plumbing.
Mom had to always go to the well and get water. Then heat it on the cook stove to heat up before she did her dishes.
I am so glad I don't have to live like that anymore. I am so glad for modern convinces. pinkroses

Ladies we can look at it this way - if we get it all in the first month then we have 11 that will be smooth sailing. O.K. it is hard to smile sometimes - We have been having snow again since last night. That will be three storms in three weeks, we already have six inches of new Colorado snow. Oh Well, this is our motto here "It is easier to laugh then cry, so laugh loud!"

Mary Ann- Send stronger vibes to Georgia!! Not only did the water heater break, but when it did, it caused the pressure valve to crack. Sooooo- now that we have added another $300 to the pot for this little venture,(to make sure everything meets code, piping needed replacing as well) I am ready for something good to come from all of this. Oh, and the poor plumber has been working on it while we have been under a tornado warning!! Talk about "when it rains it pours!" Good thing that I keep water stored! Gee whiz!!

Boy, misery loves company, eh ladies? We have a 9 year old freestanding dishwasher since my ancient sink wasn't able to accommodate an under the counter job. Last Saturday night we had a big birthday dinner for one of my son's best friends, nine in all, and only after everybody'd gone home, as my hubby cranked it up and NOTHING HAPPENED, oh how the fun went out of the air! After church I did dishes for a good part of the afternoon, and we will decide when we come back in spring, if we fix it/trash it/replace it. I said "hey, it holds two of my favorite begonias on top.....we can use it for storage and just chuck the idea of having a dishwasher, other than me" (hee hee). Onward and upward, gal pals! Nance

We'll take your good vibes, Mary Ann. My bake element went out in my oven Christmas eve in the midst of baking for Christmas. Then when I put in the new one it went in ok but the oven door wouldn't close. I finally fixed that and now it is full steam or should I say "more cookies" ahead. MB

Is there a dance we can do to change our luck??? Let me know and I will start dancing.Due to a huge windstorm Between the night of Dec 14 and now , we have had 15 days with no power. I just got internet back yesterday. I'm ready for nothing but good things from 2007.

I think it might have just been a passing ill wind, so to speak. My refrigerator went out on New Year's Day, so I've for sure joined the ranks. You know what I think? I think that we're just getting out all of our bad luck early so we can have a fantastic rest of the year!!!

I kept smelling fumes in the basement...our fuel tank has a leak in it! I had laundry hanging down there, too! Oh well. Let's hope the days do get better for us farmgirls and our families! Susan
