So now that the hustle and bustle of the Holidays is wrapping up, what are you doing? New projects or finishing the old? Cleaning up from having friends and family over, or getting ready for a New Years bash? Or did you have to head straight back to work.
Me? I am blessed with a week off of work. I have been doing minimal housework, taking pictures, caught up my blog, and sewing. I am finishing a patchwork wallhanging that I started before the holidays. I think that I got as far as I could today. I just need to find one more "just right" fabric for the border and backing. Feels good to be getting it finished. Before I came to the computer I was going through embroidery transfers to put on a table runner I found at a thrift shop.
I also made cards this week for New Years. I never did that before, but I was so blessed by all the cards from farmgirls at Christmas that I wanted to keep it all going!
The kids have been busy this week. Greg is outside with dad right now doing bb guns. Marie went to the mall with friends. I've also been playing with my new toy, an IPOD shuffle. Yes, I know, frivolous, but I can't tell you how much I LOVE have all my music in one easy device and pop it in while I walk, clean or craft. My taste in music is so diverse that there is just no comparing putting it all on an MP3 player! I am just a big kid I guess sometimes!

So that's all for me. I just love being home and being mom. What are you all up to?

We keep canceling all our plans for this weekend! We're bad! I think the only thing I'll do out of the house this weekend is go to church tommorow morning! We ran three days in a row last weekend, which is a lot for us! My husband just wanted to be HOME, and I was all for it! I am working on valentines too! Still making felt oranments. Got a new Fons & Porter Magazine today...just taking it easy!

I've been cutting out valentines...getting ready for the card exchange....yeah!! You sound like me, Susan. I got money for Christmas, but I spent it on glass bowls, bread pans, some books I'd been wanting, stuff my family giggles at! I still didn't buy any new clothes. I hate the mall, I hate Wal-Mart, and I've been managing to stay out of them pretty well. I need to find some second-hand stores here. I'm gonna cook brownies, and party mix for tomorrow, later. Then tomorrow night we are having homemade pizza...yum!

Love, val

Hope you're feeling better Elizabeth! Just took all my Christmas stuff and 2 trees down this morning with an almost two year old grandsons help. What fun! My living room looks like a toys-r-us store! I went to the mall yesterday to pick up my new eye glasses and did a little bit of sale shopping while I was there with my hundred dollar gift card! Not used to shopping for new things, I like second hand stuff better, so I ended up getting candles and a couple of books. New Years eve DH and I will have Brody and will probably play rummy and sip on sparkling ginger ale! I have cleaned out a few drawers in the kitchen and the two in the upstairs bathroom. I can't sit still for too long! Susan

Hi Bonnie,
I went to a few after Christmas sales. The past few days I have sick with the flu. I didn't know so many places could hurt all at once. LOL I did make a few ATC's one day. I got your card. Thank you. Put lots of sunshine in my day.
Hugs,
Elizabeth

Cindy - I have to say that I love your "pen name." My name is Sandra Lee, but my dear grandpa used to call me "Cindy Lee."

The house is now back to normal (whatever THAT is) and since I'm somewhat new on the forum, I spent the better part of two hours last night just reading back posts on the gardening section. I'm trying to learn who's who and what has been discussed in the past. Thanks to info on the forum, I have a TON of garden websites to visit. I'm not particularly good with houseplants, but am trying to improve on my outside gardening skills.

Tonight I'll catch up the stitching category.

I don't iron anymore. If I'm not wrinkle-free, why should my clothes be?

Being a CPA, this week is one of the busiest of the year. So many things to get done by year-end. No extensions or extra time to think about what you really want to do. Year-end is YEAR-END, and if it's done, it gets counted for 2006, and if it's not done, you don't have it counted till 2007. So, of course, everyone wants to touch base to finalize those last few little things they want (or need) to get done in 2006. Next week will be the one I can relax in! Just need to hold on for a few more days!

It's been fun hearing what you all are up too!
Today I am a little more work orientated. I am taking down the Christmas tree and decorations. It is just SO fun taking the ornaments down and finding the right box, or picking a box and searching the tree for the ornament! Everyone wants to help put it up....

After two days of being lazy, I am now gearing up to really DO something! I work for a major toy company so you can imagine what the third quarter has done to me! The wonderful thing about my job as that I will hardly work at all until the Fall. Yipee!

Sandy, I am with you and finishing projects and using things up. My goal is to NOT buy anymore quilting books! I couldn't even do one project from each book I have now in my lifetime! What is that all about? I need to stop looking at books and actually DO some of the projects!

If life gives you scraps, make quilts!

Working--I work for an attorney, and sadly, it seems like a lot of our clients passed away over the Christmas holiday, so getting all that stuff in line for folks, but today is the last day of work for me until next Thursday!!! Hubby and I are going to Pleasant Hill on Sunday for New Year, then taking a meandering drive back home to work on the house for the next two days.

A much needed break is on the way!

Just think of all of the roads there are...all of the things I haven't seen....yet.

I have the week off (I work at a school) so I have been de-cluttering and cleaning. The tree is still up because we are having two couples over for New Year's Eve. They are great to have, because they like to be asleep by 10:30 like me! Early "ball drop" at our house. Yesterday I took my mom to see "The Holidays"...it was very sweet, and definitely one my husband wouldn't have appreciated! My son Dennis has been working and seeing his girlfriend quite a bit, so he's happy... I miss seeing him, though. Also, hubby has end-of-year processing with work, so I won't see much of him until after New Year's.

We have been cleaning the basement. Our hotwater heater is leaking and started shooting water out the top. So I have been cleaning so the landlord has an easier time getting to it. I have way too much junk.
I hope he comes tomorrow because we have the water turned off.

I, too, am an early up/early down Christmas decorator. I took everything down Christmas evening. To me, there is nothing more depressing than an empty Christmas tree after Christmas. I've been working on several new knitting projects...you have all inspired me to teach myself more knitting stitches. Tonight I finished a single bootie, and am working on a purple flower broach. I have a rug I'm knitting for my daughter-in-law. Been thinking about the new year and the budget...dh lost one of his jobs 2 weeks before Christmas, so cutting back even more than we have already will be essential but a challenge. I'm afraid I'm learning to be frugal later in our marriage than I should have. The kids are busy with life, work, basketball practice again, and we are all fighting off aches, sore throats, fevers...you all know.!! But life goes on. And there is a certain freshness, excitement, about a new year. Everyone sounds busy, but relax, too!!

Recovering! I took the 26th to just be lazy, now back to the real world! My oldest is home for a bit, so that's been fun. The three boys have been hanging out & enjoying being together. It's so wonderful to see how close they are. Today Nash took his younger brothers to a movie, so I had the whole house to myself! Ahhhh quiet! I had a nap and read!
Yesterday, I spent the entire day visiting with friends who have all moved far away. Two ladies have been my best buds for many years. It was SO good to be with them again. It will be some time before we meet again.
Back to sewing & crafting, getting ready for the Spring Line. Working on the website-yes STILL. But I really AM closer (Nancy).
Bonnie, you got an Ipod! I know how you like music, so that's awesome! You should check out The Lonely Hearts on Tooth & Nail records. They are kinda Tom Petty meets Texas. One of my favorites. Nash has Ipod and says it's great for when he is on the road. He used to carry a case of cds...not great on the road.
Laura, your talk of "Granddogs" cracks me up!
Sounds like everyone is enjoying a bit of rest & making plans for new adventures! Happy New Year to all!

I'll start putting all the decorations away on my next days off...tuesday/Wednesday

Thus far I have been recovering from that nasty head cold and will return back to work tomorrow I was a bum all day yesterday and literally got up, shuffled to the couch and laid back down 'till nearly 5 p.m.! It's the kind of recovery my body really needed.

This a.m. I made a quick trip to Wal-Mart it was like a ghost town! sure made for easier manuvering down the isles

I also made a huge pot of chili froze some, and will eat on the rest this week

Today, I actually began un-decorating. Christmas goes up early, and comes down early. I like to start the new year with a clean slate. In another chatroom discussion, I had declared that this new year was to be the year of using up and making do - especially when it comes to my stitching/art projects. I have been mentally thinking about what I have accumulated and what can be done with it. I'd like to go through my collection of books, pick one, and then close my eyes and point to a project. Whatever project comes up, that's the one I'll do. What's the use of collecting all these books if I never use them?

This is also the year I should (finally) finish an undergraduate degree that I have been working at for a very long time. Still don't know what I want to be when I grow up -- but at least I will have completed something started long ago.

It will be a busy spring and summer, so I think I will put a big pink post-it note on my calendar that says, "Just Say NO." I have a tendency to overbook myself and then get frustrated with a lack of time to do those things that make me a happy person.

We're also finishing up the rest of the leftovers and then have parties to go to on Friday and Saturday night. I'm going to forget how to cook (yeah, right!)

Best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

I went over to the house that me and my 2 sisters on and we cleaned on it for awhile. We are in the process of selling the house and the land. I got David my son to clean the goat pen and a couple of the stalls then took him over to a friends house to ride horses. I had planned on going to the ag center to ride tonight but I don't think I'm going. I have a barrel race Monday I really need to practice but not feeling to well. I did do a few things here in the house. I have to go back to work Tuesday and I am dreading that. In about 30 minutes I'm going to the barn to put horses up and feed them. Then put goats back in pen and feed them. I try to feed everyday at the same time. In the mornings I feed at 6;30 and in the afternoons I feed at 4;30. If I keep the routine it seems the animals don't get so stressed out. I found a lot of neat junk in the old dairy barn that I plan on putting up on the side of my barn. I really hate to say it but all this week i have been LAZY. It has really been nice. Oh, my stepdaughter and her husband is going to Key West for the weekend and I get to keep the granddog. We haven't got grandkids but granddogs. yes, we even do the b-days and everything. Can't wait for the grandkids to happen.

Rob had yesterday and Tuesday off, which was nice. we got some errands done. He is back to work today and I am getting things done around here. I have to get the the market sometime today or tomorrow. We finished off left overs and have been eating take out becuase before we left, I pretty much cleaned out the fridge so nothing would go to waste over the holiday. I am on the hunt for some chickens and I am pretty sure we got some, but I have to call back later. We are setting up our coop outside this weekend. It is an old outhouse building from out at Rob's parent's cabin. It will be nice and big to walk into and roomy for lots of birds. We are also going to go get our new computer this weekend!!!!!!! and going over to my parent's house to help out with some stuff they have going on. Other than that, not really doing anything but recovering from the busy-ness of last week and the beginning of this week.
