Well, our schools are in the news again. This time it is my dd's school and her science teacher that was arrested yesterday for stupidly bringing a weapon to work. (Please, no debating here).

What is even worse is the media parked all over the lawn of the school. The news trucks are back. It's like our town is a fishbowl.

When my mom sent me to school, she did not have the worries we do and I certainly did not have the stress at that age that the kids have to deal with. I often wish I could've home schooled my dd.

Our little town is so quiet and peaceful normally, and it is so unnerving to see it on world news again.

Ugh. Just ugh.

Thanks Girls. The hoopla has seemed to die down and spring break has been this past week.

All is calm here again.

Thanks girls. I had to be at the school last night and the parking lot was filled with news vans. Thankfully, spring break is this week coming so maybe by the time kids go back to class the story will have died down.

Farmgirl Hugs,
Nicole

The news media can be so insensitive and in your face. So sorry your school and your town had to be in this mess.

I am so sorry Nicole. It makes me sad that our world is so crazy and that schools aren't even safe for our children. I hope things get better for your family and others soon.

I am so sorry for the unrest in your school/town, Nicole. I've often had that fear that our children of today will think all of this is the norm. Prayers for the kids and parents.

I for one will not be turning on my TV. That sends the most powerful message to these newshounds who only care about ratings. And I am sorry they are damaging the schools' lawn. The kids deserve better than this.

I know my parents worried about us all the time, just because that's what parents do, but I can't help but think that the idea of school not being physically safe probably never entered their minds! Granted, I went to school back in the dark ages of the 1960s, but my biggest worry was getting good grades -- I was more worried about being chased by mean dogs than I ever was about something scary happening at my actual school. I suppose it is just a symptom of our society, but it makes me sad. Then again -- kids today will think that this is normal, and it will be, for them.

Hopefully the news media will get their fill and go away and stop inflicting themselves upon your town to boost their sorry ratings. It makes me weary to watch the "news" people at work.

Hug your kids, ladies.

Thanks, Sara. I just wish we could get through a school year without a headline. It takes a toll on the kids, and it puts grey hair on the heads of the parents.
