This is a tattoo I got yesterday. I would have never gotten one but I felt this a very good reason to get one. I know of so many people who have tried to commit suicide and a few who have succeeded. I felt I want to have this to start a conversation with, to perhaps make mental illnesses, to get talked about freely and openly. Just was wondering if anyone else has heard of this?

Oh Serone, I am so sorry for your loss. It I think has hit everyone in America, somehow. I think everyone of us can say they had a friend or co=worker or family member commit suicide. I just think there are way to many of them now a days. It is an out reach program that I am glad to help with. you can google semi-colon project and it will tell anyone all about it.

Sherone,
So sorry to hear about your sister! I have some friends who have lost a family member to suicide, but it hit close to home a few years ago when my nephew hung himself. So, so tragic!

Beverly, On Feb 20, 2015, after suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia for 20 years, my sister committed suicide to end her pain. Thank you for your efforts to get the word out about the effects of suicide on society. I just might have to get me one of those tats!

Beverly, your tattoo is beautiful. I have heard of these before. The word definitely needs to be spread because suicide has increased. My husband lost a friend to suicide at the age of 16. Just recently I lost a friend. She had made many attempts in the past and just 3 weeks ago she passed away. The family never said what happened so in the back of my mind I'm afraid it was from suicide. It's so heartbreaking. I will continue to spread the word about the semi colon project.

Beverly, I had no idea the semi-colon tatoo signified 'a pause in life'. How wonderful! I will pass on that information to friends I know who have lost some of their loved ones to suicide.

Yes, I had the wings put on. I want people to know that the semi-colon only represents a pause in your life but when you go on you can become a beautiful butterfly and your life that goes can be wonderful! Just recently my little niece who is 14 lost her best friend to suicide. My son in law committed suicide 2 years ago. I hope this does help to start conversations.

I have seen some lovely ones done. Yours is just beautiful!! As it is a reason dear to my heart, I have considered getting one myself but could never settle on a design.

Beverley I have heard of this I was looking at some of these online a few months ago. I think it's a clever idea. So many people have been hurt by suicide or attempted suicide. Did you make yours into a butterfly?

Nice. I hope you're able to start several conversations, and maybe save one life. Just last week, in the city I live, a man shot his wife and ten year old son, then shot himself. He died four days later. The community is grieving about the loss.
Thanks for sharing.
