I noticed yesterday on Mary Jane's Farm calendar that tomorrow, Thursday, is "Thank a Mailman Day".
I think it is appropriate to thank our mail carriers. I know sometimes that we get aggravated with the postal service, but I really do appreciate the USPS and our carriers!

I have a handwritten "thank you" note and a chocolate bar ready to put in the mailbox for our carrier tomorrow! Our regular mailman is kinda grumpy at times, but he has been our carrier for more than 20 years and does an EXCELLENT service!

Who's with me Farmgirls?

I had to mail some Priority boxes today and when there not only did I say Thank You to my postmistress, but I asked if I could take a selfie of us (UGH my hair was pulled back and a mess). I told her that today was Thank a Mailman Day and she said she didn't know that and I was the first to thank her. I said "Yes, it was on the 2016 MJF calendar." And I just looked it up and it IS celebrated every year! LOL!

Not only is Trey our postmistress, she also is the drummer in an Irish band that plays around the Dallas area.

And what, I ask, would we do without our mail carriers to deliver our Mail Art? I think they have one of the MOST important jobs!

Thanks for sharing this idea with us today, CeeJay! We have a lady who brings out mail and she is very sweet and helpful. Recently, she asked me what is"Farmgirl Mail"? I immediately grabbed my latest MJF magazine and gave it to her and said, read all about it here!!

Thanks for sharing this info CJ. We have a nice mail lady so I will have to leave her a little note tomorrow! And of course there's Seana my MJF "Penpal Forever" in Durango who works at the post office, too! I can mail her a post card tomorrow. It might be a bit late but hey she will get a kick out of it anyway!

Cheers! ~ Marilyn

The folks in the Dolores post office know us by name. We also go to the Cortez post office (not our mailing address) and one guy there knows me by name. Cortez is where we do most of our shopping so we're in there frequently.
Yes, the small post offices are great!

Wonderful idea,,,
I live out in the mountains so we don't have mail carries, per say,, there are 'cluster' boxes at the main road and contracted people put the mail into the boxes... but the cluster boxes are to often vandalized.. so we have a P.O. Box in town.. and it's small enough were the mail clerks know just about everyone..

I have to go to the PO tomorrow and will thank them all! I love a small town post office - they all know my name and besides, my best friends husband is one of the carriers.
