Almost finished!

Waiting for the 'drawers' to dry after applying my 1st of many coats of polyacryclic finish. Then I will paint the hardware in the same Victory Red chalk paint-distress the knobs to bring out the patina. The cutouts are from a Robert McCloskey book called the "Centerburg Tales" a vintage children's book with the background paper taken from a very old Funk & Wagnell's dictionary. The paper and cutouts are a wonderful sepia tone which balances well with the Victory Red base...Needed a POP of color and decided on some leafy green cut-outs from a children's nature book. The drawers are stacked in sequence to tell just a part of the story. Bruce will add some struts to the back for stability and then Voila---Finito!

Thank you gals for your continued support!

I am having a ball re-purposing some pretty worn out looking pieces of furniture. I really think about my projects by studying the lines and the age of the piece-the time in history it was used to get a feel for what I want to create. There is something very satisfying about rescuing vintage and antique objects and turning them back into something useful and that someone would be proud to own. You can't see it in the photos but the bottoms of the drawers have been mended many times as well as the back struts-The original owner wanted her investment to last in her household. She kept it clean and polished and it once held items that were very dear to her. Now this old dresser will take its place in my daughter's apartment and hopefully, she will have it for many years to come!

I absolutely love this. Way to go. You have done such a beautiful job. I love seeing older furniture being restored. There is just something about their history and strength that last forever!
