On a grand scale, and in a "nutshell" I'm grateful for:
- God's Love!
- my hubby
- my daughter
- my son
- my dear friends
- my farmgirl sisters/friends
- good neighbors
- my house and it's comfort and conveniences
- my pets
- my talents
For our Thanksgiving I'm grateful that:
- the flood from our toilet was CLEAN water
- my hubby was up early enough to turn off the water supply before it got worse
- that it wasn't as bad as it could have been
- that we were able to let our disabled son go with his caregiver for the day, instead of with us . . would have been hard for him.
- that we were able to borrow a REALLY GOOD wet-dry vacuum from my brother-in-law that has worked well
- that we are able to borrow two REALLY GOOD dehumidifier machines from a neighbor that are helping dry things out
- that we live in a dry climate where things do dry out fairly quickly
- that we hadn't invited guests over for Thanksgiving dinner, nor did we have family visiting
My hubby and I did not sleep well Wednesday night after spending about an hour between 1:30 and 2:30 AM sopping up water with towels, from the vinyl flooring and the carpet. We got REALLY cold feet and it was hard to get back to sleep. We soaked up every towel we had and we have lots. I put them in the washer on spin cycle the next morning and then dried them, in case we needed dry towels again.
We were up Thanksgiving morning and working on the cleanup, but managed to get our turkey in the oven, along with baked sweet potato and sauteed crookneck and zucchini squash and I was able to make an apple crisp from our apples which was topped with toffee crunch ice cream. And, you can bet your farmgirl boots that that meal tasted better than it probably would have had we not already spent a lot of time and energy on an unexpected mess!
Using the wet vac in a manner so as to suck up as much water as possible made my neck, shoulders and legs sore! I feel it today!
We're continuing to vacuum, run the dehumidifiers and pray that we don't have to tear up carpet!
Sooooo, we're kinda tired . . .but, as I said, thankful for the good!
Please pray that this drying up process will go quickly and efficiently!

Thanks for your prayers! Things are drying out and I'm more and more grateful for these dehumidifiers! I have no idea what they cost, but I'm sure they're pretty pricey. They are amazing! I will be very glad when I can send them back home, however!

Thanks girls! Appreciate your prayers. The shop vac has been returned to its owner, things are dry enough it no longer sucks up any water.
The dehumidifiers . . . we have two of them loaned by our neighbor . . . are amazing at how they sit there and suck the moisture up and out and put it in the bucket in the bottom of the unit! Amazing and they are helping a lot! So, hopefully, the next couple days will see things pretty dried out!

Cj...well you know how to be Thankful in the bad times as well as the good...and that does show a
Heart of Gratefulness! We are blessed with so much in this Country...that we really never should whine...
even when the sun don't shine...on our Parade.

Oh Carole, so sorry to hear of your troubles and the sleepless night. One night we had a torrential rain and the electricity went off. The sump pump filled with water and couldn't run. When it did it overflowed the sink like a river and ruined the bottoms of furniture, our carpeting and backs of lower cabinets. The good news was the insurance company paid us the maximum and we got new kitchen cabinets and new carpeting. That was a blessing. Hope it didn't do too much damage. I am thankful for all of the above too. Love my husband, kids, grandkids, friends and Mary Jane farmgirls. God Bless.
